"And" here. I'm only interested is watching movies in hidef and I'll watch it any way I can get it if the price is resonable.

First bought into HDDVD because off price and the need to have the latest and greatest. Haven't regretted my decision. Got into BR after winning at the casino.

I hav both, both of which are through gaming systems. If either (or both) fomats die, I still have gaming console and media center so it's no big risk. I'm extremely selective in the movies I buy now and mostly rent from NetFlix, which offers both formats.

I'm kind of have my heart set on Bluray but it's just so freaking expensive. I was even thinking of getting PS3 and I'm not even into gaming.
Samsung Combo player looks good but I will not spend that kind of money either. Saw Sony Bluray at the wholesales discound store for 447 dollars. I was tempted but I'll hold off on that until at least may be X-mas to see if the price will drop some more. I hope it deos, that would be a good present for myself.

They have a mail in deal. So......

Basically Blockbuster has expensive locations that cost them lots of dollars, just so people can exchange movies that they got in the mail.

It's not gonna end up good for them. Maybe it was a short term move to steal business back from Netflix, but at the same time they are admitting defeat of their own existance.
We have a Kios DVD rental called "RedBox" here in the Connecticut. Netflix should get their hands on those and start offerring customer to return and get the movie from the box. The box is already ready red they don't have to paint it just added "Redbox/Netflix" that's all :-)

HD-DVD players are less expensive!! HD-DVD media is less expensive to manufacture!! And, most importantly, HD-DVD hardware specifications were finalized before the first player was sold! HD-DVD players already have Ethernet ports and USB ports. Web-interactivity capability is built into EVERY HD-DVD player sold to-date.

None of the above is true for Blu-ray. The only thing that has kept Blu-ray alive is the PS3. Without the PS3, Blu-ray would already be gone in my opinion. And, if you decide to get a PS3 to use as your home theater player, keep in mind that it has a Bluetooth remote so you won't be able to control it with your fancy IR or RF remote!

HD-DVD is the only logical choice. Just ask Paramount!

BOTH if you can afford it.

Some other options:

-Wait it out (until there's a winner)
-Wait several months for Universal players capable of playing both formats.

I chose HD-DVD nearly a year ago based on:

-It had the most titles that appealed to me
-The Hardware was much cheaper

I have both formats, that being said the Toshiba 1080p unit will cost you $399, the standalone Sony 301 can be had for $447. Pick your poison....if you want to partially future proof yourself, go with a P3 if you go BLU ($499)....so basically it's a difference of a $100 and you get a gaming console with the PS3.
