I have an old car, with a new base radio head station (I think thats what they are called). Anyway, it came with a cable to connect an ipod video, so you could listen to music on that instead of the radio. While this is a great feature, I don't have an ipod video, and since the cable coming out of the unit is designed to fit into the bottom of the ipod, not in the headphone jack, there seems to be no other options of what mp3 player I could use with it. So now, out of sheer desperation (and not wanting to buy an ipod video), I have come to this forum to ask if there is any kind of adapter that would allow me to use any other mp3 player in the car. And if so, would this solution be cheaper or more effective than an fm tuner for any given mp3 player?

What kind of head unit (make/model number) is it? Each manufacturer has different ways to hook up an aux input, ranging from simple mini-plug stereo ins to a USB connection that allows you to play files as if the MP3 player were a disk drive. But without the make/model of the head unit, we don't know the options available.
