Surprised nobody made the post yet...

From DVDTalk:

The dates of the DeepDiscount.com 20% Off Summer Sale are June 1 - June 17!

As always, the faithful at DVDTalk get early notice of the promotion and the discount codes are now active!

The 20% coupon excludes preorders, but applies to all DVDs, HDDVDs, Blu-Rays, UMDs, Posters, Storage Accessories and the new Puzzles and Board Games cateogries.

Your discount will show in your shopping cart and on your order history screen as a total promotional discount amount and will not be reflected on the line item basis.

The 20% coupons do not apply to Books, CDs, Electronics or Video Games.

However, we have discounted nearly 150,000 books and 15,000 CDs an additional 20% off for this sale. Those titles are marked with a "Mega Sale" logo and the price shown on the site is the discounted price--no coupon is necessary to get the discount on the titles marked with a "Mega Sale" logo. All of these titles will appear on the site on June 1 and there will be rooms for you to sort through the Book and CD titles on sale.

We hope that you enjoy and thank you very much for your business!

Use coupon code: DVDTALK

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

Okay, I feel really dumb.

How do you get the discount? As the way I used to do it is not working.

First, you get something in your cart, then you get an active code like "BARGAINFLIX" you put than into the little box in the bottom left side. Then you hit "apply" right?

I do that and the the prices stay the same but at the bottom where the subtotal is it says "promotional discount" and the total stays the same.

Any thoughts?

Perty Please!

Are you logged into your account? Are the items pre-orders?

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

Thanks Bill...

I talked to a friend about it and he explained it to me. I'm used to DDD taking off 20% themselves and showing how much the price is after. I guess they've changed it where you have to take the 20% off yourself, while they've already taken it off, and the after discount price is sad in red text at the bottom under "promotional discount?"

That kind of confused me. Basically, what I mean is - in your shopping cart, the price shown is the regular price, and it does not say what the discounted price is for one item, but rather for the entire total at the bottom of the screen. Is that right?

That is correct - the total 20% discount is shown in the summary section and is not deducted from each item. My previous post showing my DeepDiscount.com order may have been confusing because I edited it to show the discount price for each item in parenthesis. Here is how my order actually looked at final checkout:

Harry and the Hendersons
$9.49 Standard Shipping

Edward Scissorhands
$10.39 Standard Shipping

Law & Order - The Fifth Year
$39.64 Standard Shipping

Law & Order - The Fourth Year
$39.64 Standard Shipping

Order Summary

Item Total: $99.16
Shipping & Handling: 0.00

Discount: -19.83
Tax: 0.00

Order Total:
$79.33

Note that when you receive your email confirmation, the discount will be applied to each item, and not just shown in total. Here's my email confirmation for the same order:

1 FXD000537 DVD : EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (WS/SE) $ 8.31 In-stock
1 MCA000420 DVD : HARRY & THE HENDERSONS (SE) $ 7.59 In-stock
1 MCA028955 DVD : LAW & ORDER-4TH YEAR $ 31.71 In-stock
1 MCA031964 DVD : LAW & ORDER-5TH YEAR $ 31.71 In-stock

Merchandise Total: $ 79.32
Tax: $ .00
Shipping & Processing: $ .00

Total for this Order: $ 79.32

Hope this helps to clear up any confusion.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

I was thinking about making a samll order to just catch up on some of the items that the local B&M haven't been carrying. Now more of a reason.

But I likely won't be buying as much this time round and perhaps for not as
much. It just seems like there is less disposable cash this year than there was last.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

Isn't the sale starting early this year? Not that I'm complaining... but I'll wait until next week so I can get the new Doctor Who release.

Thanks. She's a goodun. Her appearance is a lot different lately because she has a bad infection and swelling on her nose. This is definately a part of the reason I can't participlate.

I actually found out about this on BoardGameGeek.com. Cool that they sell board games now.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

I'm really digging this going until the 17th. Two weeks of new releases to get, plus a couple old things. First order is Tuesday, second the next Tuesday. I might squeeze one more in there...I'm not sure.

You can place multiple orders, you just have to use a different promo code each time.

I ordered a few titles yesterday and will go back on Tuesday to order the new World War II films set, Mission Impossible Season 2, and the final season of Hogan's Heroes. Then back on the 12th for Deadwood Season 3 and Rat Patrol Season 2.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

Can I use the 20% discount for anything (videogames, books) or is it only for DVDs?

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

It's good on DVDs, puzzles and boardgames, but not books, video games or CDs. They say that some CDs are marked 20% off ("Megasale," IIRC), but not with a coupon.

Too bad.

Well since I've been wanting to expand my "Stargate SG-1" collection, this is obviously the perfect time to do it.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

I got an E-Mail from them announcing their 20% off Sale. Unfortunately it does not include Pre-Orders. So much for my plans to get season 1 of Chips, Season 3 of Walker, Texas Ranger, Wait till your Father gets home or Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea S. 3 Vol. 2 using the discount.

(I'll probably buy them anyways, but I'll wait for the Sunday Flyer before I decide)

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

With the 10% off I get with Amazon for HD DVD titles thru the end of 2007, amazon still has the best deal going and has MUCH faster shipping. Way faster.

I appreciate the link info though and was certainly worth checking out.

But if something is released during the sale, it comes off of preorder status on the release date and becomes active for the discount. Thus, anything that comes out on 6/5 or 6/12 can have the discount applied as of that date. I'll be ordering Seinfeld S8 and Coming to America, for example, on Tuesday using another code for 20% off. I know that at least a couple of the titles on your list are released in the next two weeks, so keep that in mind.

And here's my first order (of a couple I'll make), placed last night (prices reflect discount):

Quote:
PLANET EARTH-COMPLETE COLLE $ 43.12 In-stock
WWE-RIC FLAIR & THE FOUR HO $ 16.06 In-stock
WRESTLEMANIA III-CHAMPIONSH $ 16.06 In-stock

Merchandise Total: $ 75.24
Tax: $ .00
Shipping & Processing: $ .00

Total for this Order: $ 75.24

Planet Earth was listed as OOS when I placed the order, but is listed as in stock on the confirmation e-mail.

Not too bad a way to get those seasons in.

SG-1 S9 and Atlantis S2 for $27 -- not the best deal I've gotten on season sets, but pretty decent.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century Complete -- $15.86: This one I really like.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

this is working with some books.

it works for
The Far side Collection = under $54
The Complete Calvin and Hobbes. = under $60

better get them quick before the 20% doesnt work for these.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

This board os such a well of information and I am so grateful (although I just received the e-mail, I found out here first)!

So far, I have:

Cosby Show Seasons 1-4
Home Improvement Seasons 1-2
Melrose Place Season 2
Munsters - America's First Family of Fright
Coming to America (Special Edition- thanks for mentioning it, Scott!)
Trading Places (Special Edition- this is a blind buy)
The Best of Designing Women

all on my wish list (I am waiting for Tuesday for the release of the Cosby sets, Coming to America and Trading Places). I wish I'd waited a few weeks to purchase Law & Order: Trial By Jury the Complete Series, but the $20 price I bought it for was still really good. Hopefully, I can think of other sets I want before I place this order. I'll also be purchasing "What's Happening Now!!" on the 12th...

Waiting for Tuesday will also allow me to look through the Weekly Roundup for a better deal on The Cosby Show.

Re: DeepDiscount 20%

How do you get that discount, and is it only for HD, not regular titles?

Even with no discount, Amazon is cheaper on some things than DDD is with the 20% discount.

I ordered
Twilight Zone - The Complete Definitive Collection 135.90
Sex and the City Gift Collection 142.70
Police Squad! - The Complete Series 11.03

That's a pretty good deal on TZ considering there are 156 episodes. Anybody want some of the original 4 episode single disc releases?
I had Fantastic Four: Extended Edition in my Wish List but noticed today that the release date they have is 6/19/07. Hmmm...

Has the release date been changed? DVD Empire, Amazon, and even DD's "sister" company DVD Planet all still say 6/5/07.

DD's sale price would have been $15.91 at 20% off.

I bought Everybody Loves Raymond: Season 8 and both seasons of The Closer (season 1 non-anamorphic ... bleah). I want to get Coming to America and The Fall Guy: Season 1. Not sure of Trading Places since the extras aren't attractive and the original version was anamorphic.
