Where's Yentl??

I really hope this film comes out soon. It would be nice if we got it next year for it's 25th anniversary. My question is about the rights for releases. Will MGM release it or United Artists?

MGM/UA is the property owner, which means that 20th Century Fox will be releasing it. Barbra has recorded a commentary and approved a color-corrected transfer. As much as I'd love to see it released this year, chances are it is probably in the hopper for next year for the 25th anniversary. Oh well. I'd just rather it be sooner than later.

At least with Fox now putting out the MGM/UA titles, it is almost guaranteed a better transfer than when Sony was putting them out.

The bigger question is whether Barbra has approved the audio. The VHS release was infamous for Barbra's demand that the entire track be raised in volume by half a decibel.

Just noticed that DVDEmpire is listing a 2-3-2009 release date for this film - a 25th Anniversary edition. I'm not a fan of it, but I know lots of people are!
