GOD, please put a question mark in a title
when the topic is a question about a movie missing from home video on dvd.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut

There really are fans of this film? Crazy...

I certainly can't imagine a LONGER version of this lumbering twelfth-rate ROAD WARRIOR ripoff, made for a couple hundred times the budget, but perhaps if the Director's Cut consisted of 100% all-new footage from the cutting-room floor, we might have something.

Apparently someone who hasn't seen the much superior extended TV cut before....

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut

I saw the tv version on ABC many years ago and it was an improvement.

That's like asking for an extended version of Ishtar.

If Sony is still the rights holder to Ishtar, I'd say there's a very strong possibility of an extended cut being prepped right now.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut

LOL, that would be funny.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut

Actually I think it's a very good post-apocalyptic film.

Excuse me as I go take a shower -- the stench from this thread crap is a bit too much to handle.

Anyway, I've always wanted a 2-disc SE of this film, but it's Universal, so, you know...

Indeed uncalled for, and not very interesting, especially if you didn't see the DC-version in question.
This isn't even a review thread - it's some members asking for a release. Nor isn't it a poll of sorts.

Please refrain from further thread crapping.
Thanks!

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

I found the extended TV cut/directors cut to be quite superior to the theatrical cut, of course it was a shame that they cut the profanity and some violance for TV - but for character development and background stories etc it was still far superior.

I'd buy a DC in a heartbeat.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

I would also buy a DC of this, and besides, the current theatrical dvd is severely lacking in video and audio. Even the DTS disc doesn't sound so good, IMO.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

Sorry, didn't mean to threadcrap. I was just amused because it always comes up on the worst movie lists. I thought it was an ok film.

it was mostly what Nelson said.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

If the extended cut does come out, I'm hoping the theatrical will also be available via seamless branching.

I don't remember the last time I saw a new release with seamless branching. Do they still do this?

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

Paramount did it with the new Apocalypse Now set that came out last year. That's the last disc that I know of that used seamless branching, but there may have been others.

Waterworld's a fun movie and I'd love see the director's cut make it way to dvd, or HD-DVD.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

The greatest film... ever made... ...it may not be, but I had a good time with it.

I'd buy a special edition of Waterworld with or without the extended edition, but with would be better.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

I'm assuming that the bad history behind this film as well as the animosity between Reynolds and Costner is what has kept any kind of special edition/extended cut from being produced. It's a damn shame, because this film seems to have gained a cult following over the years and I always enjoy watching it when it's on cable... cult films always tend to be ones that have good repeat viewing value. I'd love to have the full uncensored extended cut on DVD just as I saw it on Encore several years ago.

Aw, c'mon, WATERWORLD can take some ribbing.

I apologize to all of the above offended. :-)

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

Costner and Reynolds are now friends again. Reynolds was actually the guy who gave Costner the script for Mr. Brooks. So, maybe, that is a good thing that they reconciled.

Re: Waterworld Director's Cut?

I just want people to know: there's an extended version available online made by a fan.

Do a web search for "Waterworld - The Ulysses Cut" if you want to find it.

enjoy
