I suppose you mean Westerns here because the one that I would really like to see as a full series release is The Third Man and that only has a few episodes released......

I'm interested in Cimarron City, hopefully the prints are good. I also hope they continue Tales of Wells Fargo in Season sets and re-release Laramie color Seasons 3 and 4 since the prints in the 1st releases were from collectors and very poor. Now they have access to Uni's Prints so they should be alot better.

In addition to The Life and Times and Grizzly Adams, I wish Timeless Media Group would release Robert Totten's remake of The Red Pony (Universal / NBC, 1973). It was a different take from the original, an entirely new adaptation, and I think a better one. A poignant coming of age drama in the west, involving a horse. Played on a small intimate scale by Henry Fonda, Maureen O'Hara, and Ben Johnson. Clint Howard played the kid. The saloon fight between Fonda and Johnson remains the best fight I've seen in a western since Shane (1953). The was no music in it, just grunts and breathing and the sound of bone hitting flesh and boots on a dusty floor. They fight until they are too exhausted to continue. The film also offers one of the best performances of Fonda's career, and that's saying a lot. The film has never been released to home video and is impossible to obtain in any shape or form.

We haven't seen a complete Restless Gun release yet. Hopefully Gary OS can let us know if Timeless is going to do a complete on Riverboat & Restless Gun. I presume Timeless will supply season 3,4 and 5 of Tales of Wells Fargo. What about The Outlaws?

I agree with Ian. I too would love to see a full release of The Third Man from Timeless.

Gary O;
I hope you have something in your crystal ball for an old west private eye with a unique firearm, that would be Shotgun Slade starring Scott Brady, which enjoyed a two-season run in syndication from 1959 to 1961. A complete series would be a good choice for Timeless to release.

They do other genres of course, but are western shows cheaper or easier for them to get than drama shows or is it merely their chosen top preference and priority? Another rare Universal (drama) title suggestion here; Lucas Tanner (1974-75) starring David Hartman, ran 23 episodes.

I think they just prefer doing Westerns more. And the deal with Universal has opened up many opportunities for them. But as Neil has stated, Universal isn't into remastering or cleaning up shows on their own and small companies like Timeless don't have the budget. So it comes down to finding one's that are in decent enough shape to run with. This doesn't ensure great looking releases but I imagine it is generally more successful then searching out prints from other sources.

Shotgun Slade?

Well, are you referring to "Outlaws", the 1960 series (no "The") or the 80s Rod Taylor series? The early series, apparently there is an elements issue on that one for some reason, although you wouldn't think so since it ran on Fox Net in the early 90s. But a good tape or 16mm source has not been located.

Some series, such as the one Henry mentioned, either there is an elements issue, i.e., no usable set of 16mm prints or tape transfers, a music issue, which you would be amazed at how many shows have such issues. Or, its not a genre that will sell well. Unfortunately, the great drama shows, which tend to be either lawyer shows, doctor shows, newspaper shows or school/teacher shows, don't sell very well at all. I'm not a big western fan myself as I much prefer the genres I mentioned but those must do well, along with the cop/detective shows. But who knows what they will dig out eventually. If they want to keep putting out product, at some point they will run out of Universal westerns and so long as the other studios won't make deals or ask unreasonable fees, they may have to go for other genres. Personally, I'm hoping for The Outsider with Darren McGavin. Not only does he have many fans from Kolchak and Mike Hammer but also that show was the prototype for The Rockford Files.

Right now, I have one episode left of "The Oregon Trail" to watch, that being "Suffer The Little Children", with Robert Fuller in a guest-star role, after all, he played Cooper Smith in "Wagon Train" for its last two seasons. Now, let's see if Timeless can go for another long, forgotten western show, like "Sara" starring Brenda Vaccaro, also from Universal, and it was on CBS in 1975-76, of course, it flopped! She played a schoolteacher in 19th century Colorado, I Think, so don't count it out in the future. You might see it!

Laramie, Season 2 now on the shelves at my local Sam's for $19.98. Have watched one episode, quality is good, not great, but good, and the original opening credits, at least I think the original, (drawing of cowboy on street, not the more familiar riding scene with Robert Fuller and John Smith) are intact.

I 've watched several episides of Wide Country with Earl Holliman. It's a pretty good show. Does anyone know why Holliman's Hotel de Paree has never been issued? It seems like a perfect series for Timeless.

Probably can't get it licensed. Timeless has had great success with licensing Universal/NBC, other studios, not so much.

I've seen a couple of "Hotel DeParee" episodes on a bootleg tape, and I can tell you that it was a CBS Production, just like all their other westerns of that era, you know, Gunsmoke, Have Gun, Will Travel, and Rawhide.

I can tell you this, Laramie's season one had the whole cast appearing in the opening credits, John Smith as Slim Sherman on his horse with a rope looking to lasso his kid brother Andy, played by Bobby Crawford, Hoagy Carmichael as Jonesy feeding milk to a baby calf, and Robert Fuller as Jess Harper riding his horse onto the Sherman ranch property. Season Two had the drawing to begin with along with a different theme song, then at midseason went to the riding scene with Smith and Fuller and even brought back the original theme music!

Wagon Train, The Complete Season Five is slated for a May release, and there are five episodes from that season that were actually filmed in color! these are as follows.
"The Kitty Albright Story'
"The Jenna Douglas Story"
"The Lizabeth Ann Clahoun Story"
"The Lonnie Fallon Story"
"The Amos Billings Story"
But I think they'll be seen in B&W instead!
I've got a hunch about a Wagon Train episode in the season 5 DVD set that Universal couldn't find "The Frank Carter Story" among their set of alternate prints in their vaults, so Timeless had to turn to a collector for a bootleg copy. Somebody on Amazon in his review of the set said that Frank Carter was giving him headcahes so he had to turn it off! Oh, by the way, has anybody seen those five episodes that were filmed in color? If they're in B&W, I'm buying the set anyway, because I ordered my copy from Amazon.

I'm back again, and so far, I've seen 9 of 37 episodes of Wagon Train season five, and it's something I've come to expect, your typical quality of alternate prints from the Universal vaults which have seen rerun syndication years ago when film prints were shipped out to local stations before the studios began transferring their film elements to videotape. I'd say that Uni never got around to doing transfers of WT's late season four, all of seasons 5-6, and season eight. What they did were seasons 1-3, most of season 4, and season seven (in color).

I just purchased a bunch of Timeless sets yesterday for $19.99 at Fry's Electronics store in Los Angeles, but they are also available on their website.
They contain 10 discs per season and come in collectible tin packaging.
The old price tags under the new price tags were $49.99, and most of the other online retailers are still selling them in the $40 range.
I don't know if they are clearance, closeouts, overstock, or just on sale for a limited time. Your Market may vary. Check their website for store availability.

They have other Timeless Westerns on sale, too.

Laredo, Laramie, Guns of Will Sonnet, etc.
Alias Smith and Jones Complete Series is $19.99
Frontier Circus is $9.99. It has 6 discs.

The massive 16-disc Wagon Train Color Season is $30.

Laredo, Laramie, Guns of Will Sonnet, etc.

Thanks for the heads-up. I picked up seasons three and four of The Virginian for $19.99 apiece.
