Timeless Media Group - New Releases - Page 8

Re: Timeless Media Group - New Releases

Not being much of a western fan, I wish Timeless would give us another volume of "Checkmate" or better still the remaining 12 episodes of "Arrest And Trial" and complete that series altogether.

Re: Timeless Media Group - New Releases

I notice that dvdpacific.com, usually the best place for low priced Timeless releases, is charging some postage for them now:

"Please note this item is not a standard release and does not qualify for free shipping".

I am guessing that the Timeless DVDs might be shipping out direct from the manufacturer.

Doug, I was able to pull this off the DVDPacific site for the 2-disc, 10-episode release of "The Texan."

Disc #1 -- The Texan
Law of the Gun
The Hemp Tree
The Eastener
No Love Wasted
Showdown

Disc #2 -- The Texan
Caballero
Blood Money
The Sheriff of Boothill
Blue Norther
Town Divided

Other than next month's "Laramie," season 3, I haven't heard or seen anything else about other Westerns that Timeless might release.

Were these episodes on the 70-episode set?

A Friend of mine who is a 16mm film collector told me the hold up on CHECKMATE is they are still missing 17 episodes on 16mm.

Re: Timeless Media Group - New Releases

Appreciate the update, though since the previous sets were only 12 episodes each, and there were 72 episodes overall, that would still leave room for another 12 episode release in the meantime? (Hope Julie London's guest shot isn't one of the missing one!)

Re: Timeless Media Group - New Releases

DeWilson,
The 10 episodes listed for The Texan are part of the original 70 episodes.I hope, the 10 episodes listed was a mistake by Timeless, otherwise you will be wasting your money,if you have already got the boxset.

Re: Timeless Media Group - New Releases

Anyone who has been collecting the various western series issued by Timeless may like to note that their recent release of 'Cimarron City' (in a tin) contains 4 episodes, 3 of which are new to DVD.
The 3 new titles are 'Burn Down the Town', Runaway Train' 'Blind is the Killer' (with Robert Fuller.)

Does anyone know anything about the Timeless release The Classic TV Western Collection released in May? Are the episode names mentioned anywhere?
Now if, Timeless could consider these rare, obscure Revue sitcoms for DVD releases, that would be great!
BRINGING UP BUDDY---Starring Frank Aletter, Enid Markey, and Dorio Merande
YES, YES, NANETTE---Starring Nanette Fabray, Wendell Corey, Bobby Diamond, and Nancy O'Donnell
ICHABOD AND ME---Starring Robert Strerling, Ceorgr Chandler, and Christine White, and even Jimmy Mathers, the younger brother of Leave it To Beaver's Jerry Mathers

Oh yes, the middle title above was originally titled "WESTINGHOUSE PLAYHOUSE STARRING NANETTE FABRAY AND WENDELL COREY''

For anyone interested, I stopped by Sam's Club this morning and noticed that the following sets had shown up:

Virginian Season 5 - $40

Wagon Train Season 4 - $40

Men from Shiloh - $34

I rounded the prices because I can't remember the pennies in each set.  But you get the basic idea.  I was hoping to find Wide Country and Medic, as those are now high up on my list.  But I figured it was still a bit early to look for them there.

Thanks for posting the pricing info, Gary.  I've been adding some of the Timeless releases to my collection as they continue to release shows that we'd not be otherwise be getting without them.

Timeless is going to make me go broke.

If Timeless wants to consider other Universal titles from this era that aren't westerns for a change, any chance of "87th Precinct" perhaps?

"Tall Man" I'm not sure of. While I'll keep getting "Virginian" and "Wagon Train" the only western oriented ones I'd like to see more of would be a complete series for "Cimarron City" and "Riverboat" (in terms of what they've done before).

You're not in for Wide Country, Jack?  I think it's a really nice, under-appreciated series.  It doesn't have the name recognition of a Virginian or Wagon Train, but I think it's solid.  The one I'd love to see, even though it's WB and not Uni, is The Dakotas.  That's one I'd really love to see Timeless release.

Gary "I'm in for just about any of the 50's/60's westerns that Timeless releases - I'll just be waiting on really good discounts for many of them" O.

Westerns are a genre that 20 years ago I hated. Now, I've learned to branch out with certain TV series though I still have no use for westerns as a movie genre. But it's still a limited range. I love "Gunsmoke" (half hour), "Big Valley" and "Virginian", would get "Maverick". "Wagon Train" I can sample. Not crazy about "Rawhide" (sorry Gary) or "Bonanza". Did get "Frontier Circus" for the novelty and a few guest shots (this can often be a make or break issue for me on a title I'm not instinctively interested in; do I get to add an obscure guest shot of one of my favorite performers?)

For Universal non-westerns, Timeless has given us "Johnny Stacatto","Checkmate" and hopefully as you said the rest of "Arrest And Trial" soon. We could use a little more non-western stuff for more balance!

I saw a reference that linked Restless Gun to Universal. Can anyone confirm or correct that assumption? If true, I would really like to see a complete series release. Since it looks like several other partial sets are now being turned into complete series sets, this is another that could use the same treatment.

Brad,

I'm 99.99% sure Restless Gun is a Uni property.  It was a Revue/MCA show therefore Universal should own it.

Gary "I'd love to see this one get a complete release" O.

Only Timeless release I've got is the Brenner set. Would like to see future releases of any black and white cop/detective shows.

Timeless announces the release of "Going My Way" (1962-63) starring Gene Kelly in the Bing Crosby role.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Going-Way-The-Complete-Series/16097

This is not a title I ever expected to see come to DVD. I had thought it was a sitcom but I guess it was an hour long show?

Wow, GOING MY WAY is one weird choice. What's next, THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH with Jack Palance?

Yes, indeed.  And I'll be able to upgrade my 16mm print of the Christmas episode, so this is welcomed news.  Of course, I'll have to wait for a good discounted price, but those usually come eventually with Timeless releases so I'm not too worried.

Nice to see that TMG is so committed to bringing us everything they can from the 50's and 60's. I will echo Gary's sentiments, they are killing my wallet as well.

Nice to see them branching out with a non-western, though this isn't one I'll likely get right away.

For other non-western shows that are Universal/Revue titles of this era that they could try?
-87th Precinct
-Markham

And then there are sitcom titles the top of the list being "Bachelor Father", and there are shorter-lived ones like "Ichabod And Me" and the McHale's Navy spinoff "Broadside".

I'd add Meet Mr. McNutley/The Ray Milland Show, Pride of the Family, and Love that Bob to your list, Jack.  Any of those would be wonderful additions to the Timeless family, but I'm not holding my breath.  For whatever reason, Timeless has concentrated on westerns and dramas.  But as I said in another thread, I'm not complaining because I love all these westerns and dramas.  I've gotten the vast majority of my sitcom fix from numerous outlets, so I'm pretty satisfied on that front.  Not that there aren't plenty of others I'd indulge in, but I'm not pining for a bunch of sitcoms right now.

Gary "I would love to see Bachelor Father though" O.

Timeless I would note has on more than one occasion sublicensed sitcom titles released by other companies and put out "best of" things usually involving the first disc or two from the previous release (Bill Cosby Show S1, My Favorite Martian)
