The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Because I Said So AND Music and Lyrics are available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s)!

--Many retailers are advertising that the Music and Lyrics DVD also contains FREE MOVIE CASH to see Lucky You. Movie Cash = $10.50. Movie Cash valid 5-4-07 thru 6-1-07. Quantities limited. No rainchecks.

--It seems as if a number of HD –DVD and Blu-ray discs that many are reporting due for release this week (Battle of the Bulge, The Fountain, Road Warrior, etc) have been pushed back a week or so. Or else their release dates were mis-reported. Some places also reported Music and Lyrics and Stomp the Yard out on Blu-ray this week. Not gonna happen.

--Some discrepancies between the Circuit City flyer and circuitcity.com this week. I have posted the flyer prices in the table. The on-line price for Dirty Dancing (20th Anniversary) is $15.99 ($1 higher) while the on-line price for Music and Lyrics is $14.99 ($1 lower). Go figure.

--Amazon.com is still having a BIG SALE!

--A return to the 2/$20 deals @ Best Buy. Purchase Catch and Release AND EITHER Steel Magnolias OR 13 Going on 30 SE($9.99 each). Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Save $10, instantly, when you purchase BOTH That ‘70s Show: Season 6 AND any other season of That ‘70s Show on DVD @ Best Buy. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--@ Best Buy, purchase Seasons 1 AND 2 of House on DVD and get both sets for $50. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--@ Best Buy, purchase Dreamgirls on DVD ($19.99) AND the Dreamgirls Soundtrack CD ($13.99) and get both for $25. Must be purchased on same receipt. Excludes prior purchases.

--Best Buy Odds and Ends: BB has a short list of DVDs on sale for $5.99 and $9.99 apiece. They’ve also got the Sex and the City Complete Series Box for $149.99.

--Circuit City is offering a 2/$25 deal on Dirty Dancing (20th Anniversary) AND the Dirty Dancing (20th Anniversary) CD Soundtrack.

--@ Circuit City, purchase Roseanne: Season 7 and get ANY OTHER season of Roseanne FREE. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Circuit City has a long list of $8.99 DVDs. With the $8.99 DVDs you get a $5 coupon for any fresh fruit bouquet from “Edible Arrangements”. Plus up to $12 in additional savings. See coupon for details. While supplies last. Minimum 20 per store.

--Circuit City Odds and Ends: Circuit City has lists of titles on sale for $4.99. There is also a long list of TV season sets on sale…including Seasons 1 thru 7 of Everybody Loves Raymond for $24.99 and seasons 1 thru 5 of That ‘70s Show for $19.99.

--Target has its usual assortment of $7.50 and $10 DVDs.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

Woohoo! First reply.

Another week of less-than-stellar releases. How sad is it that I'm only (sort of) interested in some re-releases like Big, That Thing You Do, & Donnie Brasco? I'm not even buying any of those because of my on-going boycott of standard-def releases.

I'd get DB on BD, but I'm holding off on a HD format player, too. The wait for one to win out is grueling.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

Yeah, not the biggest week for releases (it should pick up as summer approaches), but a couple FOX rereleases for me this week: Big and That Thing You Do.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

That Thing You Do is the only thing for me this week. Thanks for the roundup.

"Lucky You" is mega-flopping at the box office, so I seriously doubt it'll be in theaters beyond May 18, let alone until June 1. So if anyone gets this MovieCash, you might want to RUN to the theater ASAP.

I usually don't do posts like this, but to show off the avatar....

Just That Thing You Do for me this week!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

Thanks as usual.

A potentially big week:

Big (depending on pq and what is in the extended cut)
Everybody Loves Raymond (definitely)
That Thing You Do (depending on pq and what is in the extended cut)
To Catch a Thief (definitely)
The Caine Mutiny (unlikely based on dvdbeaver shots, but I'll read other reviews)

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

I'll be picking up

To Catch A Thief

Although I feel like I'm missing out since I'm the only person not getting That Thing You Do.

Thanks for the prices!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

I'm happy to see that the HD front is pretty quiet for now. The 22nd of this month is going to be massive, and I need to save up some bucks for that!

George: Check out Colin Jacobsen's reviews of Big and That Thing You Do...which are posted in threads over in HT Software. He details the changes from the theatrical cuts to the new extended editions.

I never do this...

...but I've got some big family events coming up in a few weeks and have decided to "work ahead" a bit on the old WRU front.

Things are still relatively quiet next week...but, holy cow(!), all bets are off for May 22! Without a doubt, that will be the single biggest RoundUp I've ever done (by quantity alone).

"Quality" is always too subjective for me to get into. But, suffice it to say, it will be hard for regular Round-Uppers not-to-find something they want on 5-22!

Then...things get real quiet again for May 29.

June, however, looks to be busy.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-8-2007

Thanks Mike, my Comcast cable modem access has been down all weekend, so I had no access to the internet to post the catalog titles this week. A Comcast tech is supposed to show up tomorrow to fix the signal strength problem. My life has had lots of hiccups lately.

Did That Thing You Do ship?

The Best Buy near my office received a few copies of Big, but no TTYD. The neigboring Target didn't get it either. Back at the office, a quick browse at Best Buy's site shows NO stores in Northern VA have it available for pickup.

TTYD is definitely out. I received my shipment of both it and Big yesterday from DVDPlanet. Maybe the B&Ms underestimated the demand for it?

Yah I see that any BB in South Jersey/Philly doesn't have any at all. Makes me wonder.
