Does anyone know if the upcoming Caine Mutiny is a new transfer or just a re-package?

Re: Upcoming Caine Mutiny

According to the review on dvdmoviecentral it's a new transfer with noticable improvement.

Will it have the original 3 channel stereo sound?

Surely this was a mono film?

Re: Upcoming Caine Mutiny

Nope, it played in stereophonic sound when first shown theatrically. I can post an add if you'd like to see it.

Most of Columbia's "A" productions were stereo during that period. Unfortunately, most of the tracks are gone.

Re: Upcoming Caine Mutiny

I'm not at all impressed with the screen captures on DVDBeaver, and I've cancelled my preorder. The colors, especially the reds seem way off.

Re: Upcoming Caine Mutiny

Yes, I was wondering if this would be worth an upgrade, but I don't like that sunburned look everything has on the new transfer as seen on DVDBeaver. I'll stick with the Columbia Classics version.

I see Van, Fred, and Humphrey. But who are those other guys on the right side of Humphrey? I think that is from a different movie.

Re: Upcoming Caine Mutiny

The guy on the far right looks like Martin Balsam, the one next to Bogey almost looks like Sid Cesar (or a reasonable facimile).
