For those interested, they are packaged in standard Amaray cases with both films in the double feature sets encoded on a single side of the same dual-layered DVD-9 disc. I still have to get through "Classic Musicals from the Dream Factory Volume 2" before reviewing this set, but I have it in hand and would be happy to answer any questions about it you may have in the meantime.

From a retailing perspective I'm also surprised that slimlines aren't being used. B&M stores only have so much shelf space available and one would think they'd push their vendors for slimmer packaging. |

I am too, kinda. At first I hated them, but again, with spacial considerations winning out, I (and my wife) quickly became a fan. Especially of the 2-disc slimline cases that they put the Bond UEs in. When I saw that Camp Cult Classics sets were in full blown Amray cases, a part of me lamented all the wasted space.

Btw, the reason for switching back to amarays is clear -- Warners are issuing these as separate standalone releases and have already stated in the past that in such circumstances, they would not use the slimlines. I believe they also went on record as saying that they wanted to stick with a consistency amongst releases and that the Film Noir box sets (despite last year's format) would continue to be released in regular keepcases. At least that's what I remember from a wHV chat a couple year's back... |
