Couldn't find anything that directly answered my problem, so here goes: I would like to be able to view video files on my computer on my TV (a Sony projection screen, KP-57WS510); my video card is a Rage 128 Pro with an s-video out; I have had friends run the same connection from their laptops into the s-video jack on the front of the TV with no problem, but when I try to do the same, I get nothing. I'm running Windows 2000 as my OS. I am not looking for high quality, just simple functionality, and I'm not going to buy anything to make it happen (my computer is seven years old). Is there something I am missing to make this work? Thanks.

Re: Watching computer files on TV?
You may not have any signal output. Often, with cards featuring TV out, you need to have the manufacturer's driver control panel installed, and check an option to activate the feature. I know that's always been the case with my ATi cards.

Try hitting Fn+F8 or whatever combo toggles between the display modes. One of your function keys should have an icon of a monitor.

Re: Watching computer files on TV?
Try disconnecting any VGA monitor and have only the S-video connected when you boot the computer. The card may then automatically adjust the resolution (all the way down) so that the S-video out works.
