Sapphire Radeon X1600Pro, AGP8x and Sony STR-DG800 problem

Hello,

I tried to connect my HTPC, which has an ATI Sapphire Radeon X1600Pro, AGP8x graphic card with both component out and hdmi out, to my receiver which is a Sony STR-DG800.
When I connect my HTPC with component to the receiver and the TV is connected to the receiver with component i get no picture.
When I connect my HTPC with component directly to my TV I have a perfect picture.
When I connect my HTPC with S-Video to the receiver and the TV is connected to the receiver with component I have picture but is not very good.

The problem is that I have only one component input to my TV so I connect the TV to the receiver and I use the receiver as as switch for all my devices.

Any clue how I can connect the HTPC to the receiver with component and get a picture ???

Thanks a lot.

Without getting lost, I'd say it looks like a receiver problem, grab the manual nd read the section on video inputs.

brentl,

thanks for the reply.
In the receivers manual I cannot find anything about the component inputs and HTPC.
I am very dissappointed because I bought the receiver for connecting all my devices on it, as I have only one component input on my tv

May I suggest to look out for the following:
- The connection between the TV and the receiver. Make sure video in of the TV is connected to the video out of the receiver.
- The connection between the HTPC and the receiver. Make sure video in of the receiver is connected to the video out of the HTPC. The component in in the receiver is designated to a particular switch (video1, video2, etc.) Make sure that the right one is selected.
- The video will come out of the component out of the receiver if the right switch is selected.

Without going through all of the steps involved, turn your PC on last - that is, make sure that both the receiver and the TV are both on before you turn your PC on. Some video cards require that.

Thank you all for the replies.

Rommel I am pretty sure that the connections with the receiver are OK. I checked them mayn times...

Glenn I will try what you say, but I do not think will solve the problem....

THanks
