Shaw-Blades

I heard these guys on Howard the other morning and was shocked by how much I like them. The band consists of Tommy Shaw from the Styx and Jack Blades from Night Ranger.

They are worth checking out if you like a good harmony.

Re: Shaw-Blades

I agree with you, this cd is freakin' great. I bought it on release day and was surprised Best Buy had only received the one copy. It is very well produced and an instant classic in my opinion. Yes this is an album of remakes but this is a must own.

California Dreamin' and Your Move are my favorites. (I loved the tip of the hat to John Lennon in Your Move.) For What It's Worth is great to hear made fresh again. The whole album is great from start to finish.

If you like late 60's / early 70's music, this cd will not dissappoint.

It's the Damn Yankees without Ted. I'll check it out.

Re: Shaw-Blades

Their first album Hallucination is pretty good, too. I bought it the first week it came out back in 1995 and wondered when Damn Yankees would reunite. Until I read Tommy's statement, "...and we will ride again!" I had no idea. Can't wait for Damn Yankees to reemerge. Having their hit song "Don't Tread On Me" as the Olympics Theme Song isn't something to brush off so easily. (Damn Yankee's Uprising Live! is available on DVD.) Influence is really polished and sounds great!

Re: Shaw-Blades

I remember reading somewhere that the 3rd Damn Yankees CD was recorded, but just never released. Trying to remember where I read that at - think it was possibly on Damon Johnson's site.

Yeah - here it is under the 26 October 2000 section:

Quote:
A lot of you have been writing and asking about the status of the Damn Yankees, so here's the word direct from DJ himself: "The Damn Yankees project is in significant limbo. Much indecision about which songs to go on the album, and the band is no longer working with Portrait Records. Tommy Shaw is still busy doing Styx, Ted's promoting his new book, and dissatisfaction over initial mixes of the record have pushed everything back. More updates to come as more info is received." In the meantime, Damon will be working full speed ahead on getting Dragonfly a record deal, so keep your fingers crossed and get out to the DJ and Y2Cane shows whenever and wherever you can. Thanks!
