Guys,
To begin, I missed the opening sequence. Did they show the regular Brady squares? The reason that I asked is explained below:
It was interesting. The first part (Hawaii Bound) actually showed a few scenes that I had not seen before on TV Land when comparing them to the DVD print! For example, Mike and Carol having after-dinner drinks at night WAS included as well as a few extended scenes with David the tour guide. There was most likely some time compression but very little appeared to be cut from Part 1. The only cut that I noticed was taken up by a commercial where there is a shot of the plane. Bobby asks, "What's that over there?" and Peter answers, "That's Diamond Head, dumb-head!"
I watched Part 2 (Pass The Tabu) with a keen eye, because I wanted to see if the 15 seconds cut from where the boys are talking about what to do with the Tikki statue was restored. As you know, this was gone from TV Land AND the DVD. No such luck here unfortunately. The only place you can hear these lines appears to be syndication and that may be debatable.
Part 3 (The Tikki Caves) like Part 2 seemed to be more time compressed than edited down. However, here were the time-compression differences for all parts that I noticed.
There was no narrative tie-in explaining what went on in the previous week. The DVD still includes this.
Greg's wipe out seemed to be trimmed down some and replaced with a commercial.
There were NO FILL in squares on any of the episodes!
But now the strange stuff! As I said, I don't know if the openings had the regular squares because I missed them, BUT the closing had this still picture silhouette of The Brady's in Hawaii wearing Hawaii apparel with TV Land's own credits for the cast over them! It would say who a guest character was and indicate that they were in Parts (1), (2), and (3) I had never seen this before!
What did you think?
Jack
