Finally - The Fall Guy! - Page 3

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Buying volumes 1 and 2 separately is cheaper than the season set. What's up with that?

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Well now I'm depressed. I love the music in this series, and I was holding out on the smallest of hope that they would not screw this up.

I'll be removing this from my Amazon cart then.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

I am disappointed also. I thought that with the higher than usual selling price, at least for shows in that era, that we would not have to deal with music substitutions or edits. It is no longer an automatic buy for me, and I absolutely love the show. Most of the music, if not all has been cleared in Dukes of Hazzard, C.H.I.P.S, Miami Vice, Knight Rider, A-team, and Airwolf. Why not the Fall Guy?

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

I was really looking forward to getting The Fall Guy,but now I'm on the fence.I'll wait until I read some in-depth reviews,to make my decison as to wether I get this,or not.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Did anyone take a look at the running times for the episodes? I don't like any edited episodes, but it is a lot more palatable if a few episodes have one or two minutes cut out for music replacement than if all the 48 minute episodes are now 42-43 minutes long.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

I'm pissed about the edits. But I'm still going to buy it anyway. Love the show..

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

I haven't received my set yet but it shipped on saturday. Should have it in the next day or two. I can almost garuntee the episodes are not edited aside from some background music here n there (aside from the pilot) but the runtime should all be intact. There simply was no reason to edit them. I will check everything out soon as my set arrives though. Hopefully someone will give a rundown sooner though.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Well tvshowsondvd.com has a review up. I did not even realize that till i just did a search for reviews. Sure enough all runtimes are intact on the episodes. So no worries there. I knew that would be the case. No mention of any edits other than the pilot incident.

Did Don Ho sing during the episode in Hawaii? It seems like he should be on the stage as the fight breaks out?

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Thanks Aryn, pretty good news that the episodes are mostly uncut. I love seeing the 48-49 minute run times, which show few cuts. While I don't like music replacement, I don't remember any songs (other than the theme song) that were integral to the story.

I'm a little surprised they didn't do any commentaries. Lee Majors and Heather Thomas both appear in the "Remembering" 14 minute segment according to the review. I would have thought they could do one commentary.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Not sure if anyone has asked this, but are the discs flippers or single-sided?

That doesn't mean there aren't any more edits, though. It just means that if there are any more they're not as clumsily done as the one in the pilot.
Also, "The Japanese Connection" is suspiciously short compared to the other episodes. That's the one with Don Ho, incidentally.

I'm pretty sure he was singing in the episode. That was one of the earlier episodes, so my memory is full of other episodes that I watched after that one.

Gord,

Did you notice that they didn't subtitle the theme song?

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

they don't subtitle a lot of songs on these TV DVD Boxed sets ... at any rate, I'm going down to Best Buy in the morning to pick up my copy ... they have it for $40 for the whole set.

Nope. I turn the subtitles on for a few mins to check and see that they're there, and what languages they are, but I don't watch an entire episode with them on.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Is the set closed captioned as well? Sometimes music lyrics will appear there but not in subtitles.

Could the blurred image from the pilot have been around in syndication? I had recorded it in such a manner and the description seems familiar but my VHS's were lost to the water of a busted pipe 6 or so years ago so I can't check.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

The cost is down to $39.99 on Amazon, so if you want to avoid the driving and taxes, you can order it.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

why would you want to wait a week or two for the set when you can get it the same day by paying the same price at Best Buy or Circuit City?

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

The bar fight scene is definitely edited -- and blurred. That is (was?) Paul Williams on the stage. The blurring of his long-shots was in addition to the removal of his close-ups.

The editing is very noticeable. At one point, when Colt sees Howie, he says "Give me a hand!" It then immediately cuts to a scene of Colt in the parking lot. Many people will assume their disc is skipping during this bar scene. What a shame.

Otherwise, the tranfers are very nice (except for the aforementioned stock footage shots.)

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Mark, the cool thing about Amazon is that there is free shipping and no taxes. Besides that, and the cost of gas, there is a $5 savings. Just a question of can a person wait 10 extra days to save $5.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

I guess it varies depending where you live with the amazon free shipping. I received my fall guy set yesterday and that was with free shipping. It shipped out on saturday. It is rare that i get things by street date though using free shipping, usually it is by the end of the week of release.

I watched a few episodes so far and they look fantastic. I didn't find the bar scene in the pilot to be that bad. I saw the blurred out bit and when colt asks howie for help, the abrupt cut to outside actually kinda works. It is ashame though but i will live. No big deal... aslong as things like this are kept to a minimum.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

I haven't picked the set up yet, getting mine this afternoon. If there are music cuts, I can live with it. After all it's The Fall Guy not WKRP.
I would just love to have each season on DVD.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Yikes I just found out. When they have the cross over episode with Trauma Centre(did you know Lou Ferrigno is in that series) this Fall Guy episode is gonna be majorly cut. Because they are only gonna show the Fall Guy parts not the Trauma Centre parts.

Well this is another series I am collecting. Because this series doesn't come on tv anymore anywhere. as to some others I am starting to collect because of this.

For some other info to let everyone know is Trauma Centre is the only cross over episode. And The Fall guy is the series that starts up the series Trauma Centre.

Re: Finally - The Fall Guy!

Who owns the rights to Trauma Centre?
