G.I. Joe live action movie - Page 4

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

After seeing that trailer, I'd be surprised if this movie doesn't end up being worse than the animated GI Joe The Movie. Ugh.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

Crappy. Doesn't look like they took much of a glance at the old Marvel comic series. The accelerator suits are enough to do in the whole thing for me. That, and the Cobra Commander action figure.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

If the title didn't say otherwise, I would swear it was Megaforce that was being remade and not G.I. Joe being adapted into a movie.

I can only think of Team America after that shot of the Eiffel Tower toppling over

I couldn't understand the accelerator suits at all. Did the Joes ever use anything like that during the 80's?

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

no they never did. those look like the battle android troopers they used to fight. i looked at that commander figure over the weekend too and wtf. why would you change it from what he was? the hood was great and even the battle armor he got later was fine.

this movie just looks bad. i mean honestly, a wayans brother as a joe? geez.

stormshadow even looks hokey and how bad do you have to be to mess up a white clad ninja?

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

Stephen Sommers directed this movie, right? That would make me apprehensive about the storytelling aspect.

Including the guys in the accelerator suits jumping and flipping on slow-mo to avoid incoming missiles. Looked like a Transformers ripoff or to be kind, homage.

I didn't have huge expectations for this, but was hoping it might be decent and worthy of a matinee. I just watched the trailer for the first time and I can't help thinking it is going to be terrible. I hope I'm wrong, but now I'll need some convincing to see this. Time is too valuable.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

Saw the trailer last night and this movie just looks horrible. I will definitely not be wasting my money on this, at least, not at this point in time.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

I'm kinda surprised that people thought that a movie based on a horrible children's cartoon* based on a toy line could be anything but bad. Of course, you could do a serious action movie with the GI Joe story but they want to go for a more cartoony angle so kids will see it.

* I loved the cartoon when I was young but as an adult, I think it's just terrible.

I had the same thought. In fact, until it said GI Joe, I thought this might be Voltron or something. I was totally lost until the title card.

Same here. I was wondering what new action movie was coming out that I hadn't heard of and then it says "G.I. Joe". I was like, WTF? This is nothing like the cartoons in any way or even something I would associate with the words "G.I. Joe". "Delta Force" or "Special Forces" made more sense.

Everybody leaves out the comic book. That's where the awesome factor comes in. Base it on that and you've got a potential winner.

I've always heard that the comic book is very good but I've never read it so I didn't want to comment either way. I assume it goes for a more serious approach than the cartoon and, like you said, that could be a winner but basing it on the cartoon seems like a recipe for disaster.

Supposedly they thought the hood was too much like a KKK hood so they changed it. As for why they didn't just use the helmet, I have no idea.

I think they might have had something like that in that Sigma-Six cartoon, but not in the 80's.

The suits in the trailer reminded me of the boots in the Super Mario Brothers movie trailer. (I didn't actually see the SMB actual movie.)

hmmm, i guess i missed the 'blue' years of the kkk when they were sporting cobra logos on the forehead.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

Not that I care too much about this movie, but they should of just used the old cobra commander hood with the glass shield and blue helmet. That's what I had when I was a kid.

The Cobra organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Know-nothing producers and Stephen Sommers directing...what the hell did they expect to get from that?

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

I hope that is true. Not because the movie can be salvaged, but because it would be hysterical beyond belief.

I really have only one thought after that news.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

"What did you say your unit was", "I didn't"
"When everyone else fails, we don't...."
"What do they accelerate" "you" duh....

With that kind of script how can you go wrong? This is going to be a hilarious movie. I'll wait for it on HBO.

I kinda doubt this story is true but if it is, I don't think the movie can be salvaged either. The time to fire the director was a year or two ago- not two months before the movie is in theaters.

New full trailer is out. I have to say that it's looking a lot of fun, much better than the teaser they put out a few months back. This looks sort of along the lines of Transformers, and if it's anything close to that, I'm there.

So why does Destro sound like he's from the north?

I'm with you Brett, and it looks to be exactly that, a popcorn action film. Grab a beer, sit back, turn the brain off and enjoy the escape.

It looks to have good effects, lots of action, and hot chicks, what more does a movie like this need? Nothing as I see it. Story, bad guys vr good guys, the basis for most every movie like this out there. Acting, looks good enough not to make the B movie list.

nevermind..

enjoy the movie. I am not watching it.
