G.I. Joe live action movie - Page 2

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

It just can't be done as a live action movie, period. It's apparently impossible as an animated movie! I mean the intro was terrific, the first battle was excellent and so dramatic (duke dies! ok, almost but still!) and then... Cobra La? WTF?

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

I think the best possible Joe-related movie would be the Snake-Eyes/Storm Shadow story, treated seriously. Of course, having a completely mute protagonist might be a problem.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

If Snake Eyes is not the central character, this film will suck. That's the bottom line as far as I'm concerned.

Stuart Beattie has been hired as the writer.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

I also would love to see Snake Eyes heavily featured. The challenge will be keeping him a key player without it turning into a Snake Eyes movie. His backstory had never been told until a comic mini a couple years ago, but I can see fanboys drawn to him like Wolverine in X-Men.

Please, please, please let this movie be set IN ITS OWN WORLD!!! Yes, the Joes are from the U.S., but fictionalize the President. Let the military have their futuristic weapons and what-not without feeling pressure to explain everything!

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

His backstory was heavily hinted at before the Snake-Eyes: Declassified, though. I was 11 when GIJoe 26 came out, and I couldn't even believe something so cool could exist. That and issue 27 still probably rank as my favorite comics of all time, and it's largely because of remembering how mind-blowing it all was when I was a kid. More about Snake-Eyes was fleshed out in issues 93-95, along with 144. I would love to read the Declassified mini, but I can't seem to find the first issue.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

I'm excited to see it. I just want to see how they take an animated movie and make it into a live action one.

I guess you haven't heard:

G.I. J.O.E. = Global Integrated Joint Operations Entity

They're not Real American Heroes.

So no Joe for me until they come out with a real GI JOE movie.

Transformers should give you some idea.

I don't want to see it at all. I can't believe they aren't going to do the Real American Heroes.

According to GIJoe.com(site for the hasbro figures) the movie news section states that Ray Park(Toad, Darth Maul) will be playing Snake Eyes.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

Aw, damnit! I read that Devil's Due lost the publishing rights to Joe. The art may have been spotty at times, but you cant help notice the love for the original material in the writing. It's a damn shame that they're losing the license to some bigger company who's only out to bilk the movie tie-in money and will probably end up abandoning the property when it goes south.

That bites.

The good news is that they got Larry Hama (the guy who wrote all the great GI Joe comics for Marvel and who wrote most of the Joe toy character bios) onboard GI Joe movie as a creative consultant! Unfortuntaly "creative consultant" is Hollywood's way of actually crushing the spirit of creators in front of them instead of waiting for the movie to come out. It really is more efficient this way.

Re: G.I. Joe live action movie

Arnold Vosloo is playing Zartan the unrivaled master of disguise in the Joe universe. This movie is getting better by the minute. My question is, will he be a shapeshifter or use mask disguises. The'll probably go the shapeshifter route saying he uses high-tech holography to disguise himself. Hopefully we'll see the acrobatic/archer side as well.

Short? Yes.

The real deal when it comes to martial arts? Yes.

Perfect casting for a role in which requires no dialog? Yes.

Ray Park is used to having no face. He also played the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow. (Walken played him when he was...headed.)

This movie has STREET FIGHTER written all over it. What a train-wreck in the making.
