I guess they think dropping the line will make the film more internationalist. I think it is pointless to drop it because the term "G.I. Joe" is as American as one can get. The term G.I as an identifier for the average American Infantryman is as indelible as the the word "Tommy" is for a British soldier.

I'm staying away from this movie becuase it has zero respect for the source material (and I love the source material, be it the comic, the cartoon or the toys).

I can deal with a few tweaks here and there as a screenwriter has to change some elements to make certain things work on the big screen, but there's just far too many things wrong with Rise of Cobra.

Also, I don't like what I've seen in the trailer.  It just looks like a big joke.  Sure, this is based off a line of toys, but the line of toys had a decent backstory to them.  This looks like filth.

Of those movies, Sommers has only directed the first three. While Van Helsing and Mummy Returns are horrible, I actually don't mind Deep Rising.
