Re: SPHE Press Release: Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut

The big question is: Is this a proper Director's Cut or just one of those pointless "Let's throw the deleted scenes back in and make some more money" releases that Sony loves to do?

Are there any indications on the current R1 release as to what the director's intention might be (e.g. remarks in the audio commentary as to why certain scenes were taken out)?

Re: SPHE Press Release: Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut

Always thought the TC was a bit short for the genre and the story itself.

Don't remember if the original DVD had deleted scenes or not, if it did then there's probably no point (ie 'The Patriot Extended Cut').

The last release did indeed have deleted scenes. If the filmmakers aren't reinserting them, I can't get too excited.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut

These Sony recuts are a mixed bag. The Extended Cut of Tears of the Sun was a MAJOR improvement over the theatrical cut, but other titles weren't all that different.

Re: SPHE Press Release: Donnie Brasco: Extended Cut

The deleted scenes of the Special Edition DVD only totaled 7 to 8 minutes. So, I am kind of interested in seeing what else they've added back in.

Also, the transfer on the Special Edition isn't the greatest in the world. I wonder if they went back an remastered it for this extended cut....
