Reno 911!: Miami - quick review

It's sort of like Reno 911: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. I found some of the scenes to be hysterically uncomfortable, mining laughs from all the wrong places, but still funny. Most of the "plot" is pretty forgettable, but to see the Reno sheriffs try to maintain law and order in Miami was both silly and cringe-inducing. The best parts are of the character playing off their own needs and insecurities while trying to do their job the best they could.

If you're a fan of the show, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.

Despite the relatively poor reviews "Reno" has been getting, I found the movie to be extremely funny. If you're a fan of the show, there is a lot about this movie to like.

Hilarious movie. When they had the wide shot of the motel Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
with all of the officers jerking off in the windows
I knew I was in for something special.

My best friend adores the show, and he was severely disappointed. I think the show's okay, and I found almost nothing amusing in this film. D- for this stinker...

I agree

I had as much fun with this as I did with Borat and I'm saying 8.5 of 10.

It's a great, light comedy, at least if you like these characters. It's them being them that makes it funny, not the plot or the gags as written (most of the time).

Even simple things like car crashes are made funny by the timing and beat of the reactions given rather than that a line is so particularly clever. For me the film version of Reno did 2 things. First, it did recognize that it was film with shots like that motel shot mentioned above. The framing and mise-en-scene was expanded. It wasn't just "the show on film".

Second, it felt like they had been holding back all their best material for this payoff. It was all the show's jokes, but better than they've been the last year or so.

I loved the character payoffs, all the regulars show up either as their regular characters or new ones (and that's a good group of "supporting" cast members). There were a few hilarious twists on some running jokes and variations of other classics from the show.

Just like Borat was mostly funny when he was just being that character and taking it over the top, Reno works the same way. I supposed people loved the social commentary behind Borat. But in terms of types of humor I found Reno very similar.

My wife was laughing right along with me, so I wasn't alone. The theater was mostly empty, but I heard lots of laughs from the people that were there. Honestly I was shocked to see the reviews the film has been getting. I feel no guilt in enjoying this film.

I saw this last night and laughed quite a bit. It's similar to Borat in that some of the gags are not funny but uncomfortable. I like the show and the movie was basically exactly the same except it was not censored. If you like the show, give it a shot.

Thing is awful, could not even finish the movie it was so lame. Not even a scene with bewbs, nice bewbs btw, could not save it. It was like the just started recording and made it up as they went. I chuckled maybe twice with the Rock blew up and when some redneck got are by a obvious fake alligator.

If the show is anything like the film, I don't see how it made it past the pilot episode, let alone a major motion picture.

Two words come to mind: absolutely awful. Two funny scenes and some nice titty shots do not a good movie make. The two funny scenes have already been covered in the post above. The rest? It stinks so bad even the Fresh Kills landfill would refuse to take it.
