Simpsons Season 9 Disc Problem

Ok for christmas i got the simpsons season 9 dvd. i just started watching it the other day. last night i go to disc two, i look at the back and there is like a area the size of a dime with little scratch marks in it. 45 seconds into the first episode and it freezes and have to skip the chapter and miss 4 minute sof the episode. and after that it worked fine unitll the credit of the last episode it freezes.this was the first time every touching the disc so i know i didnt cause the damage and it was a factory reject or something. i was wondering is there any way i can fix the disc or get a replacement from fox or something. i know it takes little away from the dvd but im a collector and am very anal about my dvds. any help would be appreciated.

I'd take it back to the store you got it from. Even if you don't have a reciept, they'll exchange it for the same item. I would say that you just opened it (but I wouldn't mention that you got it for Christmas since the time for holiday exchanges is probably over) and explain your problem.

Actually had a similar problem with the same set. Don't waste your time with Fox, they won't exchange individual discs and will make you pay to ship it out.

Don't try Best Buy either; I went today hoping for an exchange (again, no receipt as it was a gift) and wasn't helped at all.

my mom was unable to find the receit.plus i dont remember where she got it from. do you think if i got one of those 40 dollars scratch doctors do you think that it would restore the disc. plus i just looked at disc four and it appears to be the same thing.

It doesn't really matter if you know where you got it from or not. I've never had a problem exchanging something for the same item at Best Buy without a reciept. And I've never heard of someone having a problem doing the same thing at Wal Mart or Target either. I'd try exchanging it to all those places first and I'd rebuy the set for $30 before I spent $40 on a scratch doctor.

I'm sure someone will say I'm a terrible person for saying to return it to any store but the store sends the damaged item back and gets a credit for it.

i use my xbox 360 and my other dvd player i believe is made by toshiba. played on both and same spots on the dvd froze on both players.
