The Shield: Season Six - Page 5

Re: The Shield: Season Six

It was a really great episode. Needless to say, the highlight of the episode for me was the showdown between Vic and Shane. Vic may not be the best person to pass judgment on someone but he nailed Shane.

According to the description for next week's episode Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Shane reaches out to the Armenian mob.

I'm assuming that means that Shane is going to give up Vic and Ronnie for the money train. What a bastard.

yeah other shows would just string us along and not have Mackey find out, but this show on't do it, they have Shane finally fess up so we can see the machinations of what comes next, and wait till you see the next 3 episodes they are sweet.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

I'm grateful this show doesn't pad out storylines, but just keeps on pushing through them with great intensity and momentum. The characters act and react to quick-changing situations and the storylines benefit from this style of plotting.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

I agree, Patrick. This show pulls no punches, does it without
unnecessary filler, and as a result becomes very satisfying to
watch week after week.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

Good episode. They answered whether or not Ronnie knew that Vic killed Terry. I'm glad to see that he's apparently still on board with Vic.

It's always fun to hear the word "cock" on basic cable.

The finale (in two weeks) is 90 minutes long.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

I was a little disappointed with tonight's episode as it seemed like nothing significant really happened(aside from Ronnie finding out that Vic killed Terry). This season has been so intense every week that maybe the writers just figured they would slow it down for a week before the final two episodes. All I know is I'm really looking forward to the extended season finale.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

Yep the finale is pretty intense stuff too for all it's 90 min

Re: The Shield: Season Six

The bag store was priceless! I had no idea what the women were talking about but laughed the whole way.

This episode was obviously used to introduce Diro Kesakhian into the mix here at the end of the season run. I'm not sure where this is all going but cannot wait to get there.

A good summary is here http://www.tvsquad.com/2007/05/22/th...-of-the-wrath/

Re: The Shield: Season Six

Shane is weak and stupid, and Vic should have put a bullet in his head a couple of years ago.

Can't believe that Claudette hasn't figured that the leak has to be Aceveda. Nobody else in the group is dumb or selfish enough to shoot his mouth off to an outsider just for his own benefit. Obviously his developer friend has connections with the Mexican gangs and put the word out. Nice guy. Hope a crane drops on his head.

Joe

Re: The Shield: Season Six

I just caught up on all of the episodes. Definitely not as good as season 5, but one of the better seasons for sure (not enough Kavanaugh). I do have concerns about where the show is headed for 13 more episodes after this season. Seems the Shane/Lem thing will probably be wrapped up by then (or perhaps not), but it's got me wondering - is there any confirmation that Chiklis is on board for the final season 7? Seems they're building this Hyatt guy up to be the new Mackey. Although Hyatt could be IA.

I had to laugh at the pathetic Mara - when Shane cheats on her, she knows well enough to kick him to the curb...but when he comes clean on murdering someone, she takes him back. Huh? (And don't tell me it was because he did it "for the family.")

Eight episodes in(with only two to go) I have to agree that overall this season hasn't been as good as last year. It came out of the gate like a Ferrari on rocket fuel and the first three or four episodes were as good or better than the show has ever been, but it's slowed down considerably since then. Don't get me wrong, The Shield is still better than pretty much anything on TV these days, but the last few episodes just haven't blown me away like the first few did. I hope these final two are really great and help set up whatever events will unfold in the final season.

I assume that's because they started writing and shooting the season under the assumption that they had 10 episodes to wrap the whole series up, then part way through the deal was made for one more year and they had to hit the brakes to keep from writing themselves into a corner or leaving nothing left to say in the final year. In the second half of this season the whole trick has seemed to be how not to end the show after everything they'd set up earlier pointing toward Vic's enforced retirement, the inevitable discovery of Shane's guilt and the crisis over The Barn's future. (Including Kavanaugh's obsession, which I think they had to wrap up early because they only had a commitment for "x" number of episodes from Whittaker for this year and they couldn't string the character out into the end of next season in order to involve him in the show's climax.)

Re: The Shield: Season Six

Good point, Joe. Even though I am very happy that there will be a seventh(and final) season I wonder how awesome this year would've been if they had just gone "balls to the wall" for 10 straight episodes.

Yeah, I was always under the impression that this was meant to be the last season as well. After the death of Lem and with the end of the barn and Vic looming, the show seemed to be drawing towards it's logical conclusion. Instead, it started spinning it's wheel somewhere in the middle of the season. I am surprised and not too pleased that they went down the Vic-Shane estrangement route again.

I think that was inevitable no matter how many seasons/episodes were left. Vic was going to find out that Shane killed Lem at some point and there was going to be a falling out. My guess is that they're using what would have been a two or three episode end-of-series arc and expanding it so that Shane can become the big nemesis going into S7.

Let's face it, Shane has always been unstable and unreliable and if Vic had really been cold and calculating and without any scruples he would have put a bullet in Shane's head a couple of years ago. Vic is paying the price for not being a son-of-a-bitch and I think that's an interesting irony for the writers to play with. So I'm not bothered by this development.

Joe

Yeah, Maybe it's because I watched the last 4 episodes back to back instead of waiting 4 weeks it hit me much harder, I thought the final four rocked, and set up so many possibilities for next year.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

What an episode........ So far the best part of the episode for me was:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the scene with the two cops going at and having good ol dutch boy walk up and sneak a peak.. Kind of serves dutch boy right,,, Playing with fire if you hold something over someone to long!

Is it me or did next weeks episode looking freaking insane?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This show freaking rocks and I know, or should I say I hope Shane gets his in the end... Letting the cat out of the bag re: money train.. ouch ouch ouch.. I don't think that had the intended effect he wanted...

I knew the picture of acevada was going to come up again.. I knew it!!!!!

Re: The Shield: Season Six

I love how nothing stays buried on The Shield. First, the money train and then the picture of Aceveda from the camera phone.

I thought Shane was going to use the money train to get rid of Vic and Ronnie when he first got in touch with the Armenians but I dismissed that because I thought that there would be no way for the writers (and characters) to get out the situation. Looks like I was wrong.

I'm curious as to how the developer guy got the picture in the first place but I suppose it's not impossible.

Billings was like the mean girl in a high school movie (to steal a line from Death Proof) in this episode.

I was bummed that in the end credits, there was a credit reading 'Tina's Body Double'.

Re: The Shield: Season Six

Yeah....loved that money shot photo! About time it
reared its ugly head against Aceveda.

I figured there was a body double used. Tina seems to be too
high brow of a model/actress to have done a scene like that.
