The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Thanks Mike at Patrick! I'll look at reviews of the Hitchcock box set to see if these are better than the PD versions floating out there.

Looks like I'll be getting Dodgeball and Goldeneye.

Thanks again as always for the roundup

Thanks for the prices, guys. I'll probably get Delirious, but that's about it for this week.

Mike, could you elaborate on this? Who has these titles at this price? I've been holding off on POTC: DMC until the price came down.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Just as an FYI, Goldeneye was the most criticized of all the recent Bond UEs.

Feel a bit of a fool for buying Titanic SE for ~$25 when it came out, kinda shocked by how fast and low this one dropped.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Seriously, the Titanic 3-disc set for $6.99?! I'm so glad I haven't bought it yet... I can get that and Pretty in Pink for $12 - Amazing!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick.

I'll be getting Flags of our Fathers and Flicka this week.

Mike, the retailer isn't identified on this Special. I'm guessing that it's at Circuit City because it's sandwiched between 2 other CC specials. Just confirmed that it is Circuit City - it's listed in Patrick's post under the CC sale items.

Can't find any info on "Goldenfinger".

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

I'll be picking up Delirious and renting Flags Of Our Fathers and Hollywoodland.

I'm pretty sure that that Masters Of Horror disc has been pushed back. It isn't listed at all on Anchor Bay's website (but they do have the MOH discs coming next week and next month listed).

Thanks for the prices!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Thanks, guys!

At some point, I will add Hollywoodland to my library, but NOT this week!

Universal's $29.99 MSRP for a single SD disc is totally absurd. Especially, in 2007. Too bad. I really enjoyed Hollywoodland when I saw it theatrically, but I will sit this one out until I can pick it up for a more reasonable $10 - $15.

Are these Bond disks the same ones from the recent boxes?

Yes they are Chris, but the draw back is ONLY the 1st disc is being released. The extras disc isn't included with the individual releases.

Exactly. It is completely and totally absurd. I am skipping Hollywoodland and Catch a Fire from last week for that reason. I'm sure they'll both be in the $10 range by the summer. If not, DDD's 20% sale should help a bit in the summer. And, again if not, I've got plenty of other movies to keep me occupied. I won't support a blatant money grab.

Since almost every new release has a $30 MSRP, I fail to see how it's a 'money grab'. It's a small new release and those generally cost about $20 and have been that price for couple of years now.

Mark-P: Those $12.99 discs can be found at Best Buy.

And Jeff: as you discovered, the two-fer deal on the Bpnd discs can be found at Circuit City.

Up until the the nominations were announced, Hollywoodland had some award buzz going for it. Sure, it struck out, but with names like Affleck, Hoskins, Brody and Lane, it's not a "small" new release. A small release would be Catch a Fire, which came out last week. That I could (and almost did) swallow the $20 price, even on the first week of release. But not Hollywoodland. Maybe my perception of what the price should be is clouding my judgment. At any rate, another week of nothing and another week of saving my pennies for some of the bigger releases coming down the pike.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

False advertising alert. The $6.99 Saw II at BB is not the special edition (Even though the special edition spine in pictured in the weekly ad. It is actually the 1-disc edition. Well at least that was my experience when there was no Saw II SE out on the shelves at my Best Buy, and when I tried to price match at Circuit city, they wouldn'y give it to me because they looked on BB's website and saw it was the 1-disc that was 16.99. Does anyone know what the deal is with this title?

Considering the movie only made $14m domestically, I would certainly classify it as a "small" new release.
Regardless of the names on the box, the movie won't attract enough extra business to warrant a drastic discount in price.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Will, Best Buy's website doesn't always match their in-store pricing (as senseless as that is). Plus, if the ad has the 'Saw II Special Edition' shown, I don't see how Circuit City didn't match what was physically in front of them.

Yes, that's pretty much what I tried to argue, but unless I would have pulled a gun, they weren't willing to give me the 6.99 price.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 2-6-2007

Like many of you, I, sadly, won't be buying Hollywoodland this week. I saw the movie when it hit theaters in N.O. and thoroughly enjoyed it, but I simply cannot justify $20 on a SD DVD anymore. It's not that I didn't expect it or haven't paid it in the past, but I'm looking forward to new equipment so that I can begin a HD collection. I'm less and less interested in buying movies that are simultaneously released on one or both of the HD formats because I'll probably be purchasing it again within a year. My biggest dilemma is trying to justify picking up The Departed for whatever price it will be going for next week when I'm faced with the exact same problem with it as I am with Hollywoodland. Would someone simply end this HD format war already? Thanks.
Anyway, I'll end my rant by saying that I will pick up The Big Lebowski for $5.

The first one (see below. Much like I will with Scarlett Johansson, I will use any opportunity to post a pic of Angelina Jolie! ). It is NOT the Unrated SE.
