Review your favorite Movie Theater - Page 3

That Youtube brings tears to my eyes.  It's an art type theater.. lots of classics, special events.  And it is epically cool place to go.

Any theater that has a fathers day marathon of Godfather I&II back to back is OK in my book.    People who can't read the signs.  (and, FYI, that theater has a light up isles and if she found a seat before the movie was going, it is plenty bright enough)  her comment about how she txt's in "every other theater" makes me realize why most theaters suck

Yeah, agreed.

I get why theaters aren't legally allowed to employ cell-phone jamming devices, although I kinda think I'd be OK with that.  (Let all people that need to be reachable in emergencies like on-call doctors register at the lobby, and have an usher grab them if it's important.)  Before cell phones and pagers, people used to be able to go out for two hours without concern about whether or not the world would still exist when they got out.

I can't say that I've never texted during a movie, but it was a long time ago, and once I saw someone else do it and realized how bright it was, I never did it gain.  There have been times when I needed to be reachable and wanted to go to a movie - one time, for instance, I was waiting to hear back about a job interview and I knew the phone call would be coming during business hours at any point during a three day window.  I would have gone insane sitting at home waiting for the phone to ring, so I went to the movies - and I took the aisle seat near the exit, and if the phone had gone off, I would have been out the door in plenty of time to answer it without disturbing anyone.  If you need to be reachable, I'm sympathetic, there are lots of good reasons one might need to be available to take a phone call - but just put yourself in a position beforehand where you can do so without bothering anyone!

I've also noticed this trend of people showing up late to movies, which in and of itself I suppose isn't the biggest crime - sometimes you're just running late and it's not your fault.  But I think more people need to recognize that it's first come, first serve for seating, and that the people who get there early have a right to pick out their seats - and the latecomers don't.  If you're late, you don't get to climb over other people or ask people to move over or ask if anyone's sitting in that spot.  If I'm a late to a movie, I grab an aisle seat or whatever seat I can get to that doesn't require me to inconvenience anyone else, and if that means I have to stand by the entrance to the theater for a couple minutes until I can figure out where that is, or that I don't get my first choice of spots, so be it.  Despite some of my posts here which might at times seem like evidence to the contrary, I know I'm not the most important person in the world biggrin.gif
