Re: HD-DVD owners: What HD-DVD titles do you have?
So far the 2008 line up for HD-DVD is not very promising and is a disapointment overall. Over the past few months I have only picked up a handfull of HD-DVD titles. HD-DVD was the first HD format I supported but my HD-DVD library is not growing much anymore.
Upcoming Titles:
Zodiac: Director's Cut
White Noise 2 (DVD & HD DVD Combo)
White Noise
Pianist, The
Mobsters
Method Man: Live From The Sunset Strip
King Of California
Invasion, The (DVD & HD DVD Combo)
Elizabeth: The Golden Age (DVD & HD DVD Combo)
Things We Lost In The Fire
No Reservations (DVD & HD DVD Combo)
Galaxina
Strauss II: Die Fledermaus
Fletch
So far I am not that impressed with what I am seeing for 2008. I have not seen Kodiac so I honestly can not say if it is a good movie or not, maybe its worth a try. White Noise was a good movie but that does not help with the lack luster releases schedule for the year. And I wish they would drop the trailer with the person saying lossless sound as the screen shows up to 7.1 channels. Most of the HD-DVD titles are lossy DD+ 5.1 and while the number of lossless titles are improving it is still a small precentage of the current HD-DVD library.
Where are titles like:
Braveheart (Paramount Pictures)
Contact (Warner Bros)
American Pie Trilogy (Universal Pictures)
Blade Trilogy (New Line Home Entertainment)
Forest Gump (Paramount Pictures)
Saving Private Ryan (Dreamworks)
Titanic (Paramount Pictures)
The Godfather (Paramount Pictures)
US Marshals (Warner Bros)
The Shawshank Redemption (Warner Bros)
True Grit (Paramount Pictures)
Back To The Future (Universal Pictures)
Austin Powers (New Line Home Entertainment)
Jurassic Park Trilogy (Universal Pictures)
Flight Of The Intruder (Paramount Pictures)
Gone With The Wind (Warner Bros)
Star Trek 1-10 (Paramount Pictures)
Lord Of The Rings (New Line Home Entertainment)
Indiana Jones Raiders Trilogy (Paramount Pictures)
Enemy At The Gates (Paramount Pictures) US Release
Sphere (Warner Bros)
Apocalypse Now (Paramount Pictures)
Death Wish (Paramount Pictures)
Rush Hour Trilogy (New Line Home Entertainment)
Three Kings (Warner Bros)
The Ritz (Warner Bros)
My Fair Lady (Warner Bros)
Schindler's List (Universal Pictures)
Planes, Trains and Automobiles (Paramount Pictures)
Mulholland Drive (Universal Pictures)
The Client (Warner Bros)
American Graffiti (Universal Pictures)
Heat (Warner Bros)
K-Pax (Universal Pictures)
Black Beauty (Paramount Pictures)
To Kill A Mockingbird (Universal Pictures)
ET (Universal Pictures)
The Adromeda Strain (Universal Pictures)
Conan (Universal Pictures)
The Jackel (Universal Pictures) US Release
Jaws Trilogy (Universal Pictures)
As one of the lone exclusive studios Universal should be leading the charge and IMHO should be doing a better job releasing top notch titles. I see little reason to spend money on HD-DVD titles this year. And while I really want to upgrade my HD-A1 because there is little incentive as far as software for 2008, the upgrade of my HD-DVD player will be put on hold. That is until other upgrades are taken care of and I might even buy a used HD-DVD player if the format dies?
I am just disapointed in what I see for 2008 so far.
