Matt,

She's had an album since then...it's called "Feels Like Home." It's quite good in my opinion.

Re: So, who's picking up the new Norah Jones CD today?

I picked it up after listening to the leaked MP3s for a few weeks. It takes a bit to get used to, but it's well worth the effort as it's a very good CD.

I picked up the CD for $11.99 CAD at HMV - which is a surpisingly low price. I figured it's safe not to wait for a SACD release since Blue Note never released her last release "Feels Like Home" (which is very underated by the way) on the format.

Yes - can get it there - was in BB today - I believe it was $14.99 and $9.99 just for the CD. I opted just for the CD.

Hey Lee,

Yeah, we're gonna try. Wow, those tickets are pricey! We saw her years ago in support of her first album and she only played for like 45 minutes. It was a bit of a letdown, but she didn't have much material back then. I'd sure love to get that Target password to be able to pre-order the tickets.

That's good news...it's only gotten 3 stars from Rolling Stone and at Allmusic.com. Yeah, I have really liked to have gotten "FLH" on SACD as well...what gives??? It's a great album...IMO, in many ways better than the 1st one.

Hmm, the website had them both for $9.99 just yesterday. Wonder if it was a mistake.

Re: So, who's picking up the new Norah Jones CD today?

I saw the orig. post about both versions being $9.99. I checked the BB website while I was at the store and it said $14.99 for the CD/DVD.

I don't put much stock in Rolling Stone's reviews personally. I've come across some 4 star reviews on other sites and in newspapers. I always wonder how many times reviewers spin a CD. Do they give it enough chances to grow on them? Some of my favorite CDs became that way after 10 or more spins.

Blue Note stated that the "Come Away With Me" SACD didn't sell enough to warrant a SACD release of FLH.

Re: So, who's picking up the new Norah Jones CD today?

Rolling Stone has a poor track record with me for reviews.

I hear ya...you've gotta take them with a grain of salt, but for my musical taste, Allmusic is usually dead on.

Funny about Blue Note saying that...was it poor sales or the fact that they used the CD master for the SACD release?

The fact that they used the CD master was probably one factor but my guess is the biggest problem is that it came out a long while after the CD release was done. By that time many had bought it and the fewer number that are really into hi-rez jumped it and scrutinized it more. It annoys me when I've bought something and then they re-issue a better version, whether that is better sonically or just contains add'l tracks. They (the record cos.) worry too much about downloading and not their own internal problems (signing people who have less than great talent for lots of $), they have been slow to change the way they distribute things with the times (supporting their old distribution channels) and have not done much to get better pricing to the public. Once a CD is on sale after its initial release it stays on store shelves at regular price (whether that is $14.99 or whatever) years later. Releasing improved versions way down the road is not doing much for the attitude of customers who paid money for the product. Making your better customers re-buy things is not the way IMO to build better customer goodwill.

Re: So, who's picking up the new Norah Jones CD today?

Since I have her first two albums on 200g vinyl, I won't break the tradition. Great to see that the label won't either.
