Re: Theater Innovations

I had never heard of them previously but I just did a search and I feel that they are among a growing number of fly by night outfits that specialize in scamming the customer with unheard of brands and unheard of prices. Its what we call "white van speaker scams". This is not to say they sound bad but the quality is suspect and good luck trying to get a piece of gear or a speaker fixed under warranty.
I feel that you will be much better off by buying from a reputable dealer or by searching these forums for tried and true internet retailers. There are way too many widely known brands to consider without resorting to this marketing ploy.

Re: Theater Innovations

Its funny u should mention the white van scam, because thats exactly how I got mine ! ! But i will say although Im not an expert on hi-fi, I am very satisfied with them.

E-Bay is the new white van scam, I'm happy you are pleased with your purchase, enjoy them and chalk it up to experience.

Re: Theater Innovations

I think one of the purposes of this web forum is to help people become experts--not experts in the sense of
Quote:
If I had a million dollars, I'd definitely spring for these speakers
or
Quote:
To get the most out of your audio, you've got to have shakti stones

but in terms of knowing exactly how far a dollar will stretch, what overlooked films are worth seeing, what differentiates a outstanding (hd) dvd transfer, and which are merely so-so, and how to setup and calibrate your equipment for best results.

There's not a whole lot of point in discussing the finer points of Star Wars, if you can't see and hear those finer points.

Over the years, posters have prefaced their remarks with claims to completely satisfied with whatever they've bought out of the back of van down by the river, but then go on ask how they might get "5.1" sound out of their XBox360, or bass they can actually feel.

The answers are greatly complicated if the poster does not own a receiver with optical digital inputs or LFE pre-outs. Many of these "bargain" systems omit these necessities.

Re: Theater Innovations

funny story...in 1997, I was coming out of a packy store (thats what they call beer stores in CT), and was approched by 2 guys in a white van--they said their boss "overstocked" their truck leaving the warehouse. They offered me "high-end" speakers for $75 for the pair. They had really nice glossy spec shets that had retial prices of over $700 for the pair.

I was in college at the time, I almost fell for it, but the old saying, "If it's too good to be true......."

Glad I passed. HT magazine did a review on these speakers in an issue a while back. GM blasted them.

I'm glad to hear you are happy with the purchase, but they are a scam!!

Re: Theater Innovations

Ha Ha, here's my story.
I was on my way to work with £200 in my wallet which i had to give to my boss. thats when i was approached my these mysterious white van bandits, one being a crazy yank from santa monica! They showed me the speakers and said the same thing that their boss had over stocked and they wanted to get rid of a pair as soon as.
I could't resist, so i made them play the speakers for me from the van radio. And I agreed to buy them with my bosses £200 !
I then managed to get them to take me back to my place to drop the speakers off, and then back to work 20mins late !

haha
