Need help with my back speakers.

Hello everyone. I just bought a new panasonic home theater system with five speakers. The two surround sound speakers that go in the back are not loud enough, but there is a way to make them louder (this is where i get confused) When adjusting the volume of them my choices are 1dbs 2 dbs 3 dbs (all the way to 6 dbs). I can't hear them when adjusting them though. Does anyone know which number should be good for them? like 3dbs or something? Thanks

The correct way to set them is with a calibration DVD and an SPL meter. Any other way and you are just guessing.

Re: Need help with my back speakers.

Well if your volume can go up into the positive db range, it should also display negative numbers. When you at the +1, +2 etc the volume should be rather loud. Your surround processor should be able to send out a test tone, to all your speakers. Better units have a microphone, and will do the calibrations automatically.

Please keep in mind that the rear channel will only play, if a sound effect, or music is made to come from the rear. It doesn't play all the time.

Good Luck...
