Re: R.I.P. Walt Disney Treasures series? See post #82!
Ugh! I feel your pain. It's a PITA.
Wanna to see a grown man cry? Get out of bed in the middle of the night and step on an empty Silly Symphonies Volume 1 tin. Crunch...flat!

Years ago, I received a demolished Mickey in Living Color (Volume 1) still shrink-wrapped!

Forget doing it yourself. If you try to tap out the dents, you'll stretch the metal and have lumps instead. That's if you don't split the metal first! I've tried it.
You have two options. Get a buddy in a body shop to work on it at home with the proper tools. Better yet, take your troubled tins to a musical instrument repair shop. While this is just cheap alloy, a fellow who takes the dents out of saxophones, trombones and trumpets can make them look a lot better. Not perfect, but better.
You may find a replacement tin for your specific series on eBay. There's a buck to be made by Disney fans who willingly give up their tins for easier rack storage. Those are folks that are not anal collectors like us (at least, me).
I had to resort to buying Treasures at brick-and-mortar stores where I could inspect them by hand. Sometimes you have to settle for the 'least dented' in stores, too.
