Comcast HD set top box setup question

I have a 37" Panasonic plasma with a resoltuion of 720p. The HDMI output on my Comcast HD/PVR box gives me HDMI output options of 720p or 1080i. Should I choose 720p because that's the resolution of the TV? When I asked Comcast, they told me to set it at 1080i, although it wasn't "officially supported", but didn't tell me why.

I tried both and I'm not sure I see a difference. What should I be looking for?

Then use either. The set should convert the 1080i and the box should convert any 1080i coming in to 720p coming out. More than likely, the 720p will be better. I only say this because most stations broadcast in 1080i native and the TV may handle this better. Does the box have a "native" setting? If so, try this and the TV will handle any conversion of 1080i to 720p.

Usually, the TV does a better job of converting, but you should try both and compare which does better.
