Murder by Death SE Blu-ray release please

Thanks

PS.. Neil Simon interview or commentary would be fab too.
I can say unequivocally that I would buy a blu-ray player if Murder By Death gets released on blu-ray with all 4 deleted scenes.

I'm not saying that I'd want a blu-ray release in lieu of a Special Edition DVD, but I still haven't made the jump to blu-ray, and that's mainly because of the paltry selection of classic films. However, a blu-ray release of a film like MBD would push me over the edge.

I would buy it also... add my purchase to a new edition!

And my vote for the original art design as well!!

BTW -- a nice high res scan of the original poster design to be found here: http://www.impawards.com/1976/murder_by_death_xlg.html

I highly doubt that it would just get a Blu release since standard DVD still has the numbers, however Amen to that statement above since I'd rather have more films like the Professionals on Blu than a bucketful of One Missed Calls and the like.

Cheers.

Listen....

Very little I can say at this point.

Why not revisit this in a few months and see if anything changes.

Instant gratification!

Thanks to Ron for brining this fine comedy to the attentions of those who could do something about it (though they best hurry to get SE stuff since the cast list is dwindling....).

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

This is like waiting for Christmas. Will it be Christmas 2009 or 2010? I'm also waiting for Under the Rainbow, the Chevy Chase comedy. I'm afraid that one is more like 2020.

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

I haven't posted any definitive information. I would not have
anyone speculate a targeted release date at this point.

I simply have told you that your posts have been read by the
forces that would make the decision to release this title. No bull!

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

this is really just a brilliant comedy and a great cast.

there really needs to be an honest to goodness special release of this movie.

I will buy this on Blu-ray instantly when this is released.

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

I, probably like most folks above, already have this on SD DVD - I would glady double dip here for a Blu Ray release ( top notch presentation of this wonderful, witty movie please - trimmings would be nice ).

Regards,

Any news?

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

I haven't heard from my contact in a while.

Perhaps that individual will be reading this thread and will
provide an update.

All I can say was that this was a title under consideration about
a year ago.

I love this film also and just watched my DVD last Sunday evening and no matter how many times I watch it I always forget a little something that still seems so fresh as when it was made. the cast is wonderful.

And yeah that artwork was so bad... also around the same time Sony finally released SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES and that stands as another one of the all time worst covers ever.

I would gladly buy a blu-ray release for Murder bu Death and also The Cheap Detective... I'd do the same for Seems like Old Times!

Earlier today SONY announced the Bruce Willis film Striking Distance on Blu-Ray... hmm I had a few other titles that would've come first. (No offense to S.D. just come on!)

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

I read somewhere, (I think it was IMDB) that there were a total of 4 or 5 scenes that were cut from the film. I would love to see a SE of this film.

There are YouTube links to the four cut scenes in post #15.

Count me in for that upgraded re-release, too.

Re: "Murder By Death" cut scenes...time for a SE DVD?

I say they should release the movie will ALL the scenes cut, so that the viewer will be watching a black screen--much more entertaining than the movie. That's a (half)joke, son!

P.S. The movie does of course have curio value because of its cast and because they play parodies of famous literary and movie sleuths. But if I want to see Truman Capote actually be entertaining I can watch clips from his many talk show appearances, like the one where he talks to Barbara Walters about how dumb Marlon Brando is.

Sidney Wang, indeed. I wonder where Neil Simon got the idea that writing like Mel Brooks would be funny? (And don't get me wrong. I ain't no highbrow. Knockabout or "low" comedy--love it. Abbott and Costello, Stooges, Wheeler and Woolsey, even Clark and McCullough, for God's sake. But "Murder By Death", out of Neil Simon, by way of the uber-obnoxious Mel Brooks? Stinkeroo, purely stinkeroo.

My question is: "How can anyone not laugh of the attempted 'mushroom story' scene?" That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
