I picked mine up at BB for $37.99 and I'm going to stop by today and try to get the PM.

So 24 fans, dig out your Season 5 receipt and hopefully get some money back.
I stopped by Best Buy yesterday morning (around 8:30am) and it was really quiet there. Got my price match ($18.00 back + tax), and was in and out in under 5 minutes.

No such thing as gratuitous pictures of S.J.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-26-2006

Although BB lists The Black Dahlia HD-DVD in their ad, it seems to be MIA. Not at BB or any other place I checked (including Amazon - surprise). I also note that it has not even been listed in HTF's HD-DVD release schedule. Anybody have any idea what's going on?

By the way, if you buy a copy of Tax Cut Premium + State at BB you can get a free DVD upto 19.99 in value!

I got my season 5 24 with this deal!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-26-2006

Stopped by CC today and was surprised to find Home Alone SE on a shelf marked $8.

Took one up to the register and it rang for $15, cashier said there was no sale on Home Alone.

Took my copy back to the shelf and removed the red sale price clip.

Another guy was apparently checking out the sale price and followed me back to the register with his copy.

I showed the cashier the sale clip and she began to process the transaction at sale price.

She then told me that this was last week's sale price and tossed the tag in a nearby bucket.

The guy who was following me then arrived and asked if Home Alone SE was still $8.

Without a trace of emotion she said 'No' and he was forced to wander off...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-26-2006

Did Best Buy have two versions of 24 Season 5 (an in-store exclusive)?

My wife went over early Sunday morning to get S4 & S5 for me.

Her copy of S5 rang up for $50 and they told her she got the 'wrong version'.

They got her another copy of S5 (which looked the same to her) and it rang up for $20.

What happened?

I think it had to do with the "exclusive" look at S6. My copy had a little sticker on it saying the S6 look ahead was included, but I didn't have an extra disc. Not really a big deal in my book right now.

Same thing happened to me on Sunday. All Season 5 sets have a Season 6 prequel which is exclusive to the set, but Best Buy also had a bonus disc with some sets when it was released 3 weeks ago. The bonus disc sets have a different UPC # than the ones without. My guess someone at corporate forgot to enter that UPC in the computer for the sale this week. I tried to explain it was a free bonus disc and that they both had $49.99 stickers on them, but because the sticker for the Best Buy exclusive didn't say free they wouldn't sell it for the $19.99.

Larry:

Question #1 re: Black Dahlia HD-DVD. I figure it got delayed.

BTW, did you know Scarlett Johansson is in that film?

I completely missed the deal at BB on Tax Cut Premium & State and the free DVD up to $19.99. Thanks for pointing it out! Someone might want to pick up a copy of The Black Dahlia starring Scarlett Johansson:

It is also pretty cool that you were able to use that deal to pick up 24: Season 5! These 24 deals at BB & Target are unbelievable. The entire rest of the year I will be watching people buy copies of season sets of 24 for prices like $48.99 and $54.99 and just be shaking my head in disbelief!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-26-2006

Mike:

Ah, indeed I am aware that Scarlett Johansson is in Black Dahlia, which is one of the reasons I want it in HD-DVD. Unless I am mistaken, this will be her first HD release.

BTW - I picked up the SD-DVD for the interim, but at $16.99 it wouldn't be as good a deal as a freebee.

Thanks for all your work.

All right, Larry. Since you insist on keeping up this conversation...I find it necessary to post another picture of SJ...as I ponder what an HD-DVD image of her might yield:

Okay, okay. I'm done!

BTW, during a quick trip to my local BB today (which I had been trying to avoid) I found they had NO copies af ANY seasons of 24. But, of course, YMMV.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-26-2006

I was at the same Best Buy, and they offered a raincheck... So, I took it. I understand this may not be their usual policy on sale dvd items, I may have just gotten a more sympathetic clerk.

From Mike's Pocket Dictionary of Oxymorons:

"BB clerk" and "Sympathetic"

Good for you, Ric! Anyone who can get 24: Season 5 for $19.99 is getting a great deal--even if it is delayed a week or so. Since I didn't see any Season 5s when I was at the same BB as Ric...and certainly didn't see any "sympathetic" clerks...I will rest content with my merely "good" deal of $24.99 at Target!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 12-26-2006

And here I thought someone had post a on-line coupon or something...

Anyway if you're into SJ you might want to check out 'Love Song for Bobby Long'.

She shows lots of curves and there's a partial nude shot.

Frankly, Frank (how many times havve you heard that?!), I think it might even be better than an on-line coupon! And, thanks for the Bobby Long info!

WRU threads don't usually have a long shelf-life! This may be a new record!
