Mine is Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". How about the best compilation cd?

Bringing up MS DOES end the discussion on account of nausea!

Colin & Thomas....thanks for saying it for me.

One of my favorite Solstice CDs is Soul Christmas on the Atlantic label.
Otis Redding's version of White Christmas is on that disc, as is King Curtis (w/ Duane Allman) on What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?
John Fahey has a couple of Chrismas albums on the Varrick (Rounder) label.
I love John, when he's not irritating the heck out of me.

Don't have a favorite compilation CD - unless you're asking for ones we've compiled OURSELVES, in which case I'd be glad to post.

Bruce's "Santa" is my fave Christmas tune. U2's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home" would be second, with Lennon's "Happy Xmas" third, though neither is a "popular rendition of a Christmas classic", I suppose...

I don't think I worded it very well. What I meant was a Christmas song by a "popular" artist. Oh well. I guess that's why I always get the wrong stuff at the drive thru window! Man, strong opinions on MS.

Re: Favorite "popular" rendition of a Christmas classics.

Either Bob Seger's version of "Little Drummer Boy" or the duet of "Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth" by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. I actually prefer the latter song, basically because it has 2 artists of different genres working together beautifully.

Sincerely,

John Kilduff...

I also like the McKenzie Brothers' version of "The 12 Days Of Christmas".

Good call - I should have mentioned it! I like Mellencamp's "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" a lot too...
