Took a look at "The Day They Hanged..." this evening. We're viewing on a 27" Sony CRT, so bear that in mind (versus more modern displays). The PQ/transfer was acceptable, seeing that the source material was likely a 16mm print off the shelf from Universal, with nothing done for restoration. There was feathering (dark blotches on the right-hand picture side) and color streaking in portions of the print. At one point some black leader was spliced into the middle of a shot, as if a local station had once taken a commercial break at that point, and didn't remove the leader. Sound was variable, but listenable.
The DVDÂ is not encoded for time, and we didn't run a stopwatch on the show, so we don't know if it's uncut. There was at least one suspicious film splice, so anything's possible.
For the price paid, and knowing that this episode in particular hasn't been widely available recently, we're happy. Story-wise, and actor-wise, it was a hoot!
