Alias Smith and Jones - Page 3

I would like to see someone finish up this series. Maybe Timeless or Shout?
actually someone in the thread "what would surprise you in 2010" mentioned that Timeless will be finishing the series in 2010, but gave no info as to where they got the news.

If this series does get resumed by Timeless then that means "Dragnet", "Kojak", "McMillan And Wife" and "McCloud" will be the only remaining Universal "one and done" titles still not resumed by them or subleased to another company.

Someone on the Shout board has confirmation of a street date from Timeless.    They will be releasing S2 and S3 at once in the same package, which means it goes from "one and done" to completed in one fell swoop!

"Timeless Media Group, working in conjunction with Universal Studios, will be releasing seasons 2 and 3 of Alias Smith and Jones in an official commercial DVD set. The entire set will be on 6 DVDs and will run more than 29 hours. The cost will be $69.98 and the street date for the release is June 8, 2010. The 90-minute second season opener, "The Day They Hanged Kid Curry," (which did not air on Starz Encore Westerns in 2005-2007) will be included in the release. This information was obtained from a Project Coordinator for Timeless Media Group."

6 DVDs with 29 hours of content?

Further good news for TV western fans, Infinity will be releasing S2 of 'The Life & Legend of Wyatt Earp' which was previously scheduled & then dropped.

May 18th is the new date but Infinity have emphasised that this is provisional.

And great news it is!
(Together with "The Virginian", these were my two most awaited Western TV-series. Next one for me would be "High Chaparral".)

TVShowsOnDVD posted a new news article on their website yesterday about the second and third seasons of Alias Smith and Jones on Region 1 DVD. The URL link to the news article is below:

Alias Smith and Jones: Seasons 2 & 3 (Region 1 DVD) - TVShowsOnDVD news article

TV Shows on DVD has a new article up, with an earlier release date of 4/13, a reduced list price of $49.98, and a look at the cover art:

Sweet, but Timeless really needs to fix both the press release and the cover art -- "Alias Smith & Jones" was on ABC, not NBC.

I just want to know how they are going to get what amounts to 2 1/2 seasons on 6 dvds.  The third season was not a full season.

^^Very Carefully!
there were 23 episodes in season 2 and 12 in season 3. total of 35 episodes.  That is 6 episodes per disk.
This is some coincidence, only a few weeks ago did I finally decide to order S1 and it just arrived today to find this news!

I have only one episode left in season 1 so I am glad that season 2 and 3 are about to come out.
I just finished the last episode about two weeks ago so I'm ready for this as well.

Wouldn't that be six episodes each on five discs and 5 episodes on the other disc? My concern is having six episodes crammed onto a disc.

Anyone know how many episodes where Roger Davis replaced Pete Duel?  I seem to remember it was near the end of the series.
It's been such a long time since I saw any episode from the final 2 years... My recollections as a kid seems to be that Pete Duel committed suicide near Christmas time -- i was devasted, because i loved the show so much. Of course, since the invention of this internetty thing we can get down to brass tacks. IMDB.com (not always right) says Duel had filmed 2/3rds of 'The Biggest Game In the West', episode 19 of season 2 (32 out of 50 overall) and Roger Davis stepped in and reshot most of Heyes' part (except for a couple of back and long shots).
The show was never the same. I remember that it seemed stupid to me that they'd use the guy who had supplied the unique (to me) voice-over intro, someone who provided little contrast to Ben Murphy's physical look. I just never bought it and I can't remember if i watched it as religiously as i had before. Most likely the show would have been doomed no matter who they hired -- the ratings for Sat. Dec. 9 1972 had ABC's AS&J at 11.0/17 to CBS' All in the Family/Bridget Loves Bernie juggernaut (34.8/54; 25.3/40) and NBC's Emergency (19.5/30)...

Roger Davis was in the last 6 episodes of Season 2 and then the 12 episodes of Season 3 until the show was cancelled. I always liked Roger Davis being a Dark Shadows fan and thought he was good in the part. Definately not as good as Pete Duel of course but its always next to impossible to replace a part playing the same character on a sucessful show.

I pre-ordered this from Amazon @$34.99, but I'd rather have paid more and had the episodes spread out over nine dvds instead of six. I'm surprised Timeless is doing this, and hope that compression will not be too big a factor.
Well, Timeless and Sam's Club do it again.

They have Alias Smith and Jones:  Seasons 2 & 3 out on the shelves NOW, a month before the official release date... and for only $19.88!
Tim, if you purchased the set, will you let us know how the PQ is?
I'll give it the once over this weekend and report back.
Tim, thanks very much for the marketing news. Courtesy of my brother, a copy has come home and my wife will be devouring it ASAP.

Just picked this up at Sam's too. They had one left when I got mine. They also had more of the 4 Virginian sets. Only 1 each of the 2nd season sets though.
