Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

You forgot the biggest release of the week:

MEGAMAN 9!!!

BTW, it's on WiiWare. You can get it on PSN and XBLA, too.

It is a good thing to point out stuff I've missed though, for the benefit of all, so good work.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

Just wanted to add that I did in indeed download Seven Stars.
I got a chance to play it yesterday.
I already achieved my first star.
It's quite a fun game.

Something I didn't know was going to happen is that Mega Man 9 came out today for PS3.

VC:
SNES: Super Turrican 2

WiiWare:
Art Style: ORBIENT
Bomberman Blast

I'll correct my post, as I believe I stated that Mega Man 9 was a wiiware exclusive.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

Orbient is a good game, but very simple (mediocre graphics, only uses two buttons). It's the first of the new "Art Style" series, based on the "Bit Generations" puzzle series games for the Game Boy Advance (which were never published in America). This series features crude graphics and very simple gameplay, but are well-designed (especially if graphics are not too important for you). I recommend googling "Bit Generations" if you want a good idea of what games are probably coming down the pipe on WiiWare.

See Post 1. All the pricing info is there.

VC:

N64: Mario Golf
GEN: Shining Force 2

WiiWare:
Midnight Bowling
MadStone

Shining Force 2 is the "Shining" beauty of the day for me. We did get a N64 game released today. I feel that the N64 has been sorely neglected in the VC releases. There's a ton of gems on the 64 that I would really hope to see.

VC:

SNES: Secret of Mana
GEN: Street Fighter 2: Special Champion Edition

Wii Ware:

World of Goo
Cubello

The VC hits another home run today releasing "Secret of Mana" another in what I would consider to be on the "Greatest RPGs of All Times" list.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

If you like physics-based puzzles games I HIGHLY recommend "World of Goo", which is also available on PC (Steam). It's probably the best-looking game on WiiWare, and one of the best-reviewed. It has world-class production values. Also, the WiiWare version is $5 less than the PC version. (1500 Wii Points)

Secret of Mana, another best of RPG huh?
Another I just might have to play after I beat Mario RPG

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

Absolutely! I will admit there's more grinding required in "Secret" than Mario RPG, but for sure a great game, not to be missed; coming straight from the golden age of Square Soft when they were a good company and not one that just pumped out cookie-cutter garbage games. It was the first 2 player (not to mention 3 player) RPG that I can recall. This game represents the second in a series of games, but the only one to hit the US shores. The 3rd one was quite excellent, and worthy of a ROM load or hopefully an official release on the VC. For more info Google "Seiken Densetsu".

Also, Not related to the VC in any way, but since you're looking for classic RPG's, another from the golden age of Square, and also on my list of "Greatest RPG's Ever" is about to be re-released for the DS: Chrono Trigger. YES! If you own a DS, GET THIS GAME! If you don't own a DS, GET ONE! This game is incredible. Check it here: Nintendo World Report - DS Impressions: Chrono Trigger

On that note, are you are enjoying Super Mario RPG?

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

Yeah. It is a fun little game.
I just acquired my second star.
Trying to play as much as I can before Little Big Planet, as I will be consumed with that.

You're assuming LBP will actually come out before we all die of old age. No, really, That does look like a pretty good game. I'm sure we'll put some hours on that one too.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

Man I am so behind on video games and the VIrtual Console just makes it worse. I still have unbeaten disc games for my Wii, like Mario Galaxy. Now all these great VC games coming that I never even completed when I owned them, like Super Mario RPG. Then Secret of Mana comes...ugh. I loved that game!

Top all this with the legions of unbeaten DS games I have. Ring of Fates, FF4, and now Castlevania Order of Ecclesia I bought today. Top that off with other games I still need to buy like Sonic RPG and I am offically and unbearably BEHIND!

Oh and thanks for the Chrono Trigger DS reminder. I didn't realize it was so soon. I am extra excited about that game because... I never finished it!

Too many games in my "To beat" queue...so little time.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

I feel your pain, Adam. I have so many half-completed games in my collection - across all my consoles, including Wii and DS - that it's disturbing that I even feel the urge to buy any more.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

Yeah I have that urge too. Like I really want to get Sonic Chronicles. But then I think WHY! Why, Oh, Why!?

I'm trying to control myself and not get any more till I catch up. But I absoltely love my DS and with it hard to find time to really sit down with Final Fantasy 4, I thought I would get Castlevania today so I have a new action game...one to play in short bursts, so to speak.

But these great Virtual Console games loom over me now. But at least they aren't going anywhere. Have they said when the ability to save right to the SD card will be available?

VC:

GEN: Earthworm Jim

WiiWare:

Art Style: ROTOHEX

Earthworm Jim is arguably one of the hardest games in existence. It's stinkin' funny too, from Shiny Entertainment; a great comedy/action game company. If you want a challenge, it's totally there. Good Luck.

Re: Wii Virtual Console & Wii Ware Weekly Release

They've got to fix the storage problem on the Wii. I'm totally out of space, and swapping back and forth amongst GB cards is a real PITA.

I'm surprised how much audio/talking their is in the Strongbad games. Very funny though.

It doesn't take much to Challenge my Brain, all you really have to do is say something like "Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam" and I'm pretty challenged.
