Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info - Page 10

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Finally got through a second time in the middle of last wek, at which point the operator told me that they never had me in their system to begin with, even though I know I gave it to them correctly when I called the first time on 12/5. So I gave them my information all over again. Hopefully it works this time.

Thanks!
That's the number for Warner Home Video Canada. The message says to e-mail warner@unigistix.com with your full name and address and they'll mail a disc mailer to you with which you'd send them back the incorrect discs; once received, they'd send the correct discs. Since you're in the UK, I don't know if postage will be pre-paid for you.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Well, I got home today to find a nice little package from warner. I finally got my discs. This was definately from the correcting of the address I gave them a week ago. The stamp was dated last monday, so it took a week by global priority. I am in the UK. Just glad this is over and I don't have to worry. For anyone else in the UK, I just called the 1-800 number, it is free with Skype too, and gave them my info that way. Can't wait to watch this set now.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

My name and address were also mangled by the (obviously foreign) operator. I even spelled them to her to make sure they were correct. When I got the envelope in the mail, sure enough, they had changed my name to "Kidde" and "Fremont Drive" to "Furman Street". You know, outsourcing to foreign country does nobody any good when they can't do the job they are being paid to do. Sigh. I really hope I get my corrected discs.

I believe it was supposed to end with Superman releasing one of the nuclear missles into space where it explodes and shatters the Phantom Zone. From that point, Zod and friends is shown heading towards earth. I believe that's the scene that is on the Donner Cut of Superman II.

Kind of makes me wonder how Donner would have ended Superman II since they had to use the time reverse scene for the first one instead. I haven't listened to the commentary for Donner's cut yet so I'm hoping he did touch on the subject.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I recieved mine yesterday. It was with the corrected address. Took one week from the time they shipped it. Came by global priority. Just pleased it is over. For anyone else in the UK, it is free to call 1-800 numbers with Skype, that is what I did. And I didn't have to call any other number. Now I can finally get to watching this gorgeous set, waited to open it just in case. Also, no way am I sending the wrong discs back since the envelope they sent me wasen't pre-paid. Their screw up, not mine.

How long is it taking you guys in CA to get your replacements back? I sent mine out about 3 weeks ago and I haven't seen them yet.

I did. I got a second about two weeks after the first, then a third the next day. Haven't gotten a fourth yet, but I think I'll mark it "Return to Sender" if I do. Enough is enough.

Sheesh Brian, and I'm still waiting on my first.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I called around Dec 12 and am still waiting for the envelope to send the incorrect discs back! This is so outrageous. Almost 2 months and multiple phone calls and nothing.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I ordered this set from DDD a while ago, and it was on backorder for several weeks. I just received the set a couple of days ago, and would just like to confirm that I have the corrected Superman 3 disc. It seems that the S1 disc may also be the corrected version as well.

The S3 disc I have has a commentary track, a "making of" featurette, deleted scenes, and trailer. There is only one English soundtrack. From reading this thread, am I correct in assuming this is the corrected S3?

The Superman 1 theatrical release disc, disc one, has a commentary track and trailers under "special features". Under languages it has English 5.1, English, and French. My receiver reports the 5.1 track is 5.1, and the English track is 2.0. Is this the corrected S1 disc?

Thanks!

Steve

You're correct about Superman 3.

For Superman, try this:
Go to the scene just before the story shifts to Metropolis and the establishing shot of the Daily Planet building.

In particular, the scene after Jor-El (Marlon Brando) has his final words with young Clark Kent (Jeff East) which end to the effect of "...for these reasons, I give them you, my son", after which the camera zooms into the eye of a rotating face ice/crystal sculpture (5.1 loud whoosh sound, 2.0 not so apparent whoosh sound) and you see Superman (Christopher Reeve) fly toward the camera and bank to screen right (another 5.1 loud whoosh, 2.0 not loud whoosh).

Listen to the 5.1 track and listen for the above noted whooshes. Then listen to the French track and listen for the absence of those louder whooshes; look for the same in the English (hopefully original) track, it should sound similar to the French track.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Being the procrastinator that I am, I finally got around to calling the number for the replacement discs; FWIW--the process was pretty painless and quick...that is, quick, after waiting around 4 minutes for someone to answer--LOL!! Anyways, the lady who answered the phone either had a really good English (American?)-sounding accent, or I must have got lucky 'cuz her enunciation clearly sounded like that of someone not calling from some Indian call center.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Amazon only has it listed used and new. Which means they should be getting the corrected set soon.

I'm now glad I didn't get this for xmas. By the time my birthday rolls around I'll know my set is corrected.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Well...this is interesting. I finally got my mailer just a little under two weeks ago, and the replacement envelope came back today. I just have the four-disc set of the original, which I explained to the operator, yet I seem to have gotten the replacement discs for the 14-disc set. So now I have 'Superman III' (which I really don't like) in a paper sleeve, and 'Superman' with the incorrect artwork. *Sigh* At least the contents are finally right...I guess that's about a 75% success.

Nice to hear the original soundtrack, though.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I emailed two different email addresses relating to the exchange program about 5 days or so ago, but judging from people's responses here, it takes at least 10 days or longer for the mailer to arrive.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

For what it's worth, I called for my mailers back at the end of December. Never came. Called back today and was told that they have heard from many Illinois residents regarding non-delivery. I have no idea why this would be but if you are from the Land of Lincoln and still waiting for your envelopes, you might want to give them a call.

Thanks Andrew. I listened to that scene, and the 5.1 version definitely sounds "whooshier", louder, more vivid, definitely 5.1. The French and English soundtrack sound anemic in comparison. So does this mean I have both corrected discs? If so, that would explain the delay in getting the set from DDD.

I just read some more, and apparently since my disc one actually has a 2.0 English soundtrack, in addition to the 5.1, means that it is corrected, if I am interpreting all of this correctly....

The first release contained a 2.0 English as well but it was a taken from the 5.1 mix, not being the original stereo soundtrack.
As you say, you refer to the present English 2.0 on your set as "anemic" in comparison to the 5.1 so going by your judgement this should be the original.

Thanks Ferdinand, I listened again, and the English 2.0 and French soundtrack sound very similar. I would say that the "whoosh" in that scene is virtually absent on both, and when you listen to the 5.1 it is shocking how much difference there is.

I'm glad my order was delayed now.

Well, I got the faulty set and waiting for my replacement discs right now. I hope they will show up in a week or so, not that I've been waiting long (as some others have).

People complain about the post office, but when that thing actually made it to my house I gained a whole new respect for my mail carrier.

BTW, I sent the originals back about three weeks ago and am still waiting to get the replacements. Hopefully they used the corrected address I included in the envelope.

I always feel if you complain, you need to mention the resolution. I got my set in the mail yesterday. I called the week after Christmas so all together it took about a month and a half to get to me in Dallas.

BTW, they did correct my last name and street name based on the information I included in the envelope. As for my first name, I still don't see how "Don" and "Scott" could ever be mistaken for one another.
