Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info - Page 9

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I called about 5 weeks ago just for the return envelope and still have not received it. I made a couple of followup calls and confirmed my address with them. They keep telling me they sent it but it hasn't arrived. I am so annoyed at this slow process. When I returned my Back to the Future and Cleopatra dvd's I experienced nothing but prompt service. I wonder why this one is so f*cked up.

EDIT: I just spoke to them again and was told that a lot of mail that was sent in Dec was lost. This includes the replacement envelopes as well as the replacement discs. They are waiting for stamps and will mail the replacement envelope to me next week. So now I am looking at another 2 weeks JUST to get the freaking replacement envelope. What total crap this is.

Got my replacement discs today from Warner Canada! My wait is over......hope other Canadians get theirs soon. Gonna watch Superman 3 and sample a bit of S1 tonight.

They came in white paper sleeves packaged in a bubble mailer envelope. Nothing else inside.

Same here!

It took just one week to receive the discs after mailing them in.

Sometimes I wonder....how much money would WB have saved if they had watched/tested sample pressings of the defective DVDs before they sent thousands (millions?) of them out? It wasn't like the defects were subtle, either. A missing soundtrack from STM, missing bonus features from SIII - in the future, they should enlist a few members of HTF to give their DVDs a once-over before they finalize them.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Hey Jonathon,

As a fellow Australian who has emailed Warner Brothers and is still waiting on my replacements...I was wondering did you call or email WB to get your replacements sent out?

And how long did the whole process take?

If and when I get the discs sent to me I'll try to send them back to WB, but there's no way that I'm gonna pay for postage.....if Australia Post won't let me send them back with WB paying for the postage...I will all of a sudden have two new shiny coasters!

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Sorry if this has been brought up. I read that Superman 1 has the 5.1 and not the original 2.0. Does the replacement have both or just the 2.0?? I would like to have both.

Thanks!

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Received my replacement discs today! (01-25-07) That was fast!

Stupid Question:

The audio options on this replacement disc has choices for "English 5.1" and "English". I'm assuming the "English" option is the original 1978 mix, though it isn't labeled as such. I'm aware that the old disc had only the 2001 mix. Can someone suggest an obvious section of the movie I can check or compare the mix so that I can ensure I have the correct (1978) soundtrack on this disc?

Thank you in advance.

I called them just after it was released, and had no issues whatsoever. Best of luck!

Use the scene when the planet Krypton explodes. The difference is night and day. Another scene is when Kal-El lands on Earth. Those are 2 that I checked when I got my discs.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I would like to take this opportunity in my first post on this forum to thank everyone who have posted their comments on this thread. It has been most helpful to me. At first, when I heard about the problems with the set, I hesitated buying it but in the end decided the hassle was worth it in the end.

As of today I am now the proud owner of the box set and have already contacted them at the 1-800 number. No problems so far, living in Sweden I had to spell out name, street name, town's name and even spelling out my country... , so know I'm holding out for the mailers.

So, once again, thank you.

/Ronnie

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Sorry to beat on like a broken record, but is there any hint of when the new corrected stock of S1 will hit retailers.

I am in two minds wether to order it or not...

If its going to take months for new stock to arrive, ill just buy an existing copy and arrange for the disk swap via Warners, however if the new stock arrival is due within a few weeks or so, then i'll wait.

Any info would be great.

Thanks.

This was posted on the Digital Bits on 01/24/2007:

We've spoken to Warner Home Video and want to update you as to the Superman replacement disc issue. Warner says the replacement program is working smoothly - correct discs are being shipped out now to all those who have requested them and have sent their incorrect discs in for exchange (via the envelope provided by the folks at the 800 number - 800-553-6937). We've been told that all of the product currently on store shelves is still the original product. To simplify the replacement situation, Warner is letting that product sell out as it is (rather than pulling it), and is then arranging replacement discs for those who request them. All discs now being manufactured however are correct, and sometime later in 2007 new corrected product will be released to stores of the 14-disc Ultimate Collection, the Superman: The Movie 4-disc set and the Christopher Reeve box set. Warner will make official announcements in a few weeks as to precisely when this product will be available in stores and how you'll be able to identify it from the previously released DVDs (at the very least, the new corrected product will have new UPC or SKU numbers).

Warner's promised to provide The Bits with all the important details, so rest assured that we'll tell you as soon as they tell us.

Hope this helps.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Finally got my replacement discs on Friday (01/26). It took a long time though - called number on 12/21, received mailer on 12/28, sent old discs on 12/29. (Address is in CT).

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Hi. First post here. Can anyone internationally who has recieved the discs tell me if warner sent it by airmail or surface? I am in London, and when I called again to see when the shipped it, I first called Dec 27th, they had my street name wrong. They said they were sending it out again, and I would love to have a rough idea of how long. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

How on earth are they getting these addresses so wrong?

Do they not read them back to you once you have given them? (just to check?)

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

First called Warner on 11/29/06.
Received replacement discs (in Canada) on 1/31/07.

I felt inspired tonight to see if I could also get my 5 posters, but after calls to two different Warner numbers that bounced me around without success, I gave up.

Maybe I'll watch the proper 1978 Superman tonight, my first time in about 10 years.

I received them by airmail (to Germany). Took less than a week to get here, if the postage stamp was correct.

I have no idea. When I got my envelopes, literally the only thing correct was the street number and zip code. My street name, "Cedar Forest", somehow became "Pepper Force". I won't even comment on how they mangled my name...

People complain about the post office, but when that thing actually made it to my house I gained a whole new respect for my mail carrier.

BTW, I sent the originals back about three weeks ago and am still waiting to get the replacements. Hopefully they used the corrected address I included in the envelope.

Apparently, my envelopes got lost in the mail and Warner is sending me another set. I have been waiting since mid December to send my discs back.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Well, I just called today, spent 10 minutes on hold (im in the UK) then I was told to call a different number (1877 832 9959) Does that ring true with anyone else?

Could someone in the US do me a big favour?

Could you call that above number (which I believe should be free to you) and tell me what it says, as ive already called twice and the recorded message is really low volume, and I fear for my phone bill!

Thanks!

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I sent in my wrong discs on Jan 8 and got my replacements 10 days later, I had included a note with the correct spelling of my last name but they still had it wrong. Other than that, it was a very easy process.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I sent my defective discs back about a month ago and I have still not recieved the replacements. I am getting pretty worried that maybe they got lost in the mail or something. I don't know what to do from here, now I've got this 90$ boxset with 2 discs missing. This whole ordeal really has me upset.

I have called from the UK myself. I have called a few times actually. I called the 1-800 number only. I gave my details and am waiting for the discs. They actually got my street name wrong and said they were sending them again. I hope to get it this time. I was never told to call the other number.

BTW, I used Skype to call as you can call 1-800 numbers in the states free with it. I would assume the same is true with the other number if it is a free number. I will post again once I get my disc, and I hope they make it this time.

It's very possible they got your address wrong and it was mailed out but never got to you. I'd call them again and double check on your address.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I'm wondering if this would be a first for someone here...

I seem to have received a DUPLICATE set of Ultimate set replacement discs!

The operator who took my name royally screwed up my name, apartment number and city, though the original envelope and both sets of replacements have arrived unscathed. Odd.

Anyway, since I have no use for these duplicates, I wanted to try to help someone out there who has been having trouble, perhaps if you're outside the US with some difficulty getting replacements. There is something that could be done to help me in return, actually. I'm kind of unnaturally obsessive about the packaging and inserts of my DVDs. I am interested in the offer for the set of Superman posters but I don't want to a) cut up the outer cardboard backing for the set for a UPC or proof of purchase or b) get rid of the coupon I would need to mail for the posters. So if there is someone willing to trade those two things for these replacement discs, send me a message!
