Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info - Page 7

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

widescreenforever was kind enough to post this info for us Canadians who have been left out in the cold up until now for the exchange:

-----------( okay got the scoop today from Warner Home Video Sales dept.: ) ---------

For Superman customers living in Canada, you need to follow the instructions at 1-877-832-9959.

This problem was not anticipated and it has taken a while to get all the correct components
together for a proper exchange.

warner@unigistix.com now has the pre-paid mailers and corrected product in their possession and are
ready to start moving on the exchanges.

They hope to have all the requests for pre-paid envelopes sent out by the end of this week (Jan. 12, 2007)
The exchange program will go on for a while as not all customers who bought product were immediately
aware of the problem.

We are sorry for the delay in this and any other problems you may have encountered.

Customer Service
Warner Bros. Entertainment Canada Inc.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Thanks for that, Joe. I already e-mailed that address back when it was first making the rounds. Maybe I'll drop them another e-mail tomorrow, just in case. Good to see we aren't being ignored.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Thanks for the information......I called the number and emailed them. Now all I have to do is wait. Good thing Warner Canada finally got on the ball.....I was starting to feel like I was on the outside looking in while our American friends are reporting the receipt of their replacements.

Damn, so this isn't a recent thing? I only found out about it now! Sonofa.... I maybe could've had my mailer by now!

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I just mean that the e-mail address was around before. I'm pretty sure it appeared earlier in this thread, and it was initially given to me when I talked to some random guy at Warner's Toronto office. I sent them an e-mail at the time, but got no response of any kind.

So don't worry, Warner doing something for the Canadian Superman customers is a brand-new development.

EDIT: Another quick update for international customers. I just called the 800 # for a friend who lives outside of North America. The operator transferred me to a guy who assured me he was personally working on packaging-up the international mail (the mailers, I assume) as we spoke.

I should also add that their records had my friend's address info FUBAR (literally "beyond all recognition")... so for anyone anywhere who isn't getting a response from Warner, you might want to call and double-check their info.

My discs got to Warner's on the 8th... so, we'll see...

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Got through to the number on 12-27-2006

Recieved mailer on 01-09-2007

Sent discs 01-10-2007

Did everyone else get just one (1) cardboard envelope to send back both discs. I was under the impression it was two seperate envelopes...

Also, I put a slip of paper with my address and confirmation number inside as an extra security measure.

I also received one envelope to fit the two discs into, and like you, also put a piece of paper with my info inside. Mailed my discs out on 12/19, got the replacements this Monday (1/8).

Got my replacement discs today. No scratches. 1978 sound mix on STM-1 Theatrical is in tact.

Warner, Thanks so much! You're an awesome bunch!

Anyone have any luck with the e-mail address?

I'm on a respirator so it's hard for me to talk over the phone...

I e-mailed them a few days ago but never got a responce?

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Oh lovely...

Called on Dec. 27 for my mailer envelope.

Called back today, Jan. 12, after having recieved nothing in the mail and found out what they put down for my mailing address wasn't even REMOTELY close to the actual address. They said they'll send the mailer envelope in the next day or so when it gets back from the non-existant address they tried to send it to. Well, we'll see.

I really am hoping to have my discs replaced before February, but at this point? Not optimistic. I'll get them, I'm sure, just hard waiting for this.

Got my replacements yesterday. A little over two weeks...not too bad.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Here's a little update for all you international customers: I live in Germany and received my replacement discs today. The envelope had the standard form letter about me having to send in the old discs first, but it actually already contained the fixed discs (which makes sense as it saves them one international shipment). The return envelope is not prepaid though (for obvious reasons).

Well, after still not having received any Tom & Jerry discs after the 4th call, this was certainly a pleasant surprise.

Also, as has been mentioned by others: even though I slowly and clearly spelled out name and address, both were riddled with spelling mistakes. Luckily they got the ZIP code right, because I doubt it would have arrived otherwise (e.g. my name Chris Preischl became Christ Preisnch).

Thanks for the info.

Did you call the US telephone number? You mean to say that took down your details even though you are an international customer?

Perhaps I should give this a try, IDD charges notwithstanding.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Is it wrong for me to be incensed by the fact that Germany's receiving replacement discs before anyone in Canada does? How can a U.S.-shipped mailer (with discs) reach Europe before frigging Canada - we're ATTACHED to the frigging United States!!! To say that I am disgusted, enraged and done with Warner Brothers is a SEVERE understatement.

Having said that, glad to hear you got your discs, Christian!

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I would probably direct that anger at Warner Canada as they seem to provide less than ideal customer service.....look how long they took to get on the same page with their US counterpart regarding the Superman discs (and I still have yet to see a mailer envelope for mine). Hell, we can't even take part in the Superman poster offer either. Cheap bastards.

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

We need to do something about that poster situation. I don't know how they can mention a mail-in poster offer on the packaging, sell that packaging in Canada, and then have the offer not be available to Canadians.

I haven't got a mailer yet either, but now I'm eagerly checking the mailbox. I don't suppose we'll be lucky enough to get replacement discs right off the bat like our international friends?

Exact same thing for me. I live in France and received the enveloppe today. Like you it contained the two corrected discs (I checked both). How great to hear the 1978 mix again ! And like you my name and adress were so wrongly spelled it's a miracle it came to me. For information, my name is Fabien Renelli and the enveloppe was adressed to Fabein Rendli ! Well it's great it's finally the end of the tunnel...

Yes, I did and yes, they did.

(See post #27 for the relevant portion of the email I received from my online retailer.)

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

It makes me want to cry!!! I'm still waiting for my replacement discs!
BTW does anyone know if you can call the number on the sheet of paper
that comes with the envelope and confirm if they have received your discs?

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

Looks like the email for Canadian replacements does work. I just received my prepaid mailer today (no discs though). They spelled my last name wrong despite it being typed by email but that's okay. Going to send it off with both discs tommorrow morning. It's heading for a Brampton, Ontario address.

I guess the end is finally in sight after all.....

Hmm, that's relatively good news. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I'll get mine this week, too.

You did not call, you just sent an e-mail?

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

I received my postage paid envelope from WHV yesterday and I went thru the original 1-800 number. The wrote that Disc 1 of Superman has the wrong audio - it doesn't have the original Dolby 2.0 but that it has Dolby surround 5.1. Am I missing something here? Isn't 5.1 better than 2.0? I'm not sure I should be sending my disc back. As for the extras on Superman 3 - who really cares. The film was horrible to begin with - the last thing I'll need are extras on a lousy film. I should've watched the film before requesting a replacement disc.

Just a thought.

The phone number for Canadian replacements was automated. I simply sent my full mailing address by email last Tuesday. Got it exactly one week later....I was likely one of the first to receive it because I live only a couple of kilometres south of Brampton.

For the audio - the disc was advertised as including both a new Dolby 5.1 track and the old theatrical Dolby 2.0 track. Whether the 5.1 or the 2.0 is better is a matter of taste, there's no right or wrong there. The 2.0 mix that was accidentally not included was the original 1978 sound mix, which some people (myself included) wanted to have. The 5.1 audio was a remix done in 2000, and some of the sound effects have been replaced in the process of making it. Some people like the changes, some people do not, and some don't notice. Again, it's a matter of preference more than right or wrong. The issue was that Warner promoted the set as having both options, but accidentally put only the newer 5.1 on there. By replacing the discs, they're making good on what they said the set would have. There's nothing wrong with the disc itself, so if you choose not to replace it, it'll still work just fine.

As for the extras on Superman III - they were supposed to include the new "Deluxe Edition" in the set, but accidentally used the old disc that only had a trailer. The new one has an hour-long vintage making-of special, about 20 minutes of deleted scenes, and a commentary with the producers. Even though I think Superman III is a lousy movie, I was still interested in having access to the special features. As with Superman: The Movie, there's nothing physically wrong with the disc itself, so it'll still play if you choose not to replace it.

Since they're doing it for free, my feeling is that you might as well take them up on it and exchange the discs...you never know in the future when having that stuff might come in handy!

Re: Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition, etc. Exchange Number and info

In hindsight Josh, I should've ended my reply as saying that WHV has offered to make right on their wrong and that we as consumers should be grateful for that gesture. If we paid for what they were supposed to provide, it's their [WHV] obligation to ensure that the customer receives the items as advertised.

Josh, thanks for clarifying the audio issue on Disc 1.
