| Youre kidding right Jon ? Even the cheapest public domain titles nowadays have chapter menus. So why would private school, which is from a bigtime company like Universal not have one ? |
Sadly, Tony, I'm not kidding at all. "Bigtime" Universal has made it a practice with their budget-line Studio Selections series to eliminate menus, for what, I can only assume, are cost reasons.
Here's a quote from DVD Savant's review of Universal's Charley Varrick, which is one of the studio's Studio Selections:
Quote:
| Universal's DVD of Charley Varrick isn't a total loss, but it doesn't augur well for the direction of the industry. The studio clearly wants product with a low price point to toss into "the combine's" bargain bins at the local Wal-Mart, and to save a penny has issued all of the Studio Selections in full-frame versions 'modified to fit this screen.' There aren't any menus. The movie just starts. |
The image artwork that Amazon has up for Private School has the Studio Selections banner across the top, which is what leads me to believe the film will be afforded the same treatment the earlier Studio Selection titles received.
Judging from the treatment of Charley Varrick and Colossus: The Forbin Project, we should just be happy if Private School is 16:9 OAR.
