Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

I am really excited about this too... I never seen a single episode of it... but been wanting to check it out for years... I am a huge fan of Holly Marie Combs... and I found out she plays the teenage daughter on this one... so is a must see for me!

Fantastic.

I have been watching the show recently, it just returned to British airwaves - and its truly fantastic, its strange - I have never found a show that everybody in my family likes, this one does it.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

Any word as to whether the music will be intact? I don't remember specifics from this series (except for selections from "The Wizard of Oz"), but Kelley's shows tend to use a lot of licensed music. Rory, are you noticing a lot of recognizable music in the British airings?

In any event, I'm very much looking forward to this. Just hope they don't have to compromise too much to get it out.

Oh, I'm so thrilled!!! This is one of my most-anticipated releases. I adored Picket Fences and can't wait to own it!!!

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

Save for the selections in The Wizzard of Oz and there was another song sung in that episode, I have not noticed anything else. I don't know wether the show did use songs and they have been replaced for these airings, the music cues used match the theme song so its my understanding - the show didn't use much music.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

This is good news about a great show (though it went downhill in its last year). However, this release only proves my long-held point that Fox doesn't care that much about releasing any TV show in its vault made prior to 1980. When they finally get around to Peyton Place and Dobie Gillis, wake me up..........

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

I've been excited about this one as well. This was one of my all time favourite shows. Now to see what they're doing to massacre this show. Edited episodes, replaced music ...

Aside from a couple of instances there is not much music. I don't think we have much to be concerned with in this case. I don't see why they would edit the episodes either.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

TVShowsonDVD.com just reported there will be no music substitutions - great news, especially considering the damage that would have been done if they couldn't negotiate for the songs used in the Wizzard of Oz plays or some other song truly important to the plot, like the song Kimberly song at the Bar ... episodes would have be ruined that way, and good news for completists who like every piece of background music intact - maybe the DVD will suprise me with songs that were cut from the UK broadcasts?

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

TVShowsonDVD is reporting it has been delayed ... to an unknown time (most likely before June 07) while they clean up the video.

I kinda hope they work on some better special features during the delay, maybe a commentary or 2 ... they'd certainly have time.

Any News on a new release date yet ?

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

I really liked this show when it was on. 1st ep I watched was the one when Holly's character was having sex with her boyfriend in their room and her parent's walked in. I have no idea what season that was in, but after that I was hooked. Plus, as other people have stated Holly's a hottie, especially during this show.

I won't get too excited though about the DVD release. I have a feeling it'll only be released once for S1 (due to sales) like my other favorite TV shows growing up in Growing Pains & Who's the Boss. I'd pay a premium for those shows if they were released in limited quantity.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

For those of you on the fence about buying this season, Amazon.com is having a sale for today only. You can buy the set for $22.99. I got the news from TVShowsOnDVD.com so here is the link through them: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=8025

Help prevent this from becoming a one season only release. I bought it myself even though I'm already over budget.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

Already bought it, but picked up an extra one for somebody else ... I really hope they keep these coming, it is a terriffic series and deserves a DVD release.

$22 for a whole season of a wonderful drama, a great offer!

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

I ordered this show the week it got released, because, along with The Practice, it is one of the first titles I thought I would love to own when they started releasing TV shows on DVD. It is wonderfully written and features stellar acting from all involved, especially Kathy Baker (who picked up 3 Emmys for this show), Tom Skerritt, Fyvush Finkel, Lauren Holly and Ray Walston. Although they do not appear in this first season, Oscar nominee Don Cheadle and Oscar winner Marlee Matlin were also two of the show's best assets.

I hope this promotion isn't a sign of poor sales, because I would hate not being able to complete this wonderful show.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

I was also worried when I saw this that it was a sign of poor sales. I have bought three copies already (one for me and two for other people)... so I couldn't bring myself to buy yet another just to try and boost sales.

Re: Picket Fences Hits DVD in February!!!

The sale is off but the Amazon price is still good, now just under $30! Comparable to Boston Legal Seasons 1 & 2 ...

I always wonder about this myself and worry is this a good thing that the price has dropped so soon. I mean FOX was great at making sure all of Remington Steele made it out even though prices dropped on those sets quickly aswell. I hope that will be the case here aswell. It would be ashame not to be able to own the complete 4 seasons of this outstanding show.
