Day Break - ongoing thread (merged) - Page 3

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Well, that hurts. Stopping it so soon is painful. Why can't they just let it run its course?

Because it's affecting their eventual bottom line? ABC can't very well charge Lost-style ad rates when the Daybreak ratings are in the toilet.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

This does not surprise me. Honestly , I almost had to wrap my head in duct tape to keep it from exploding from seeing the promo ad for Day Break on ABC for the bazzillionth time before the first episode.Every time it came on ,I changed the channel. It totally_ turned me off to watching the show.Hopefully ABC will learn a valuable lesson about overkill in advertising.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

I was fine with the promos and I really like the show. Especially with it being a one-time, 13 eipsode, run. Now if they tried to keep it going, with other days repeating or different people or something, that would probably have been jumping the shark.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Great episode last night.

Any more word on the cancellation? What will happen to the unaired episodes?

This is a show that would work, extremely well, on DVD. I had been Tivoing it, and eventually watched the first 4 epsides back to back and it played A LOT better than waiting a week between episodes. So, they should just release it all to DVD.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Nice twists last night with his sister's involvement as well as Shelton. It's also good that they can rapid fire through some of the day and just show the little changes he makes. Pretty funny how many times he had to keep going to Detweiler's front door. Interested to see if he keeps going the same way since he doesn't know what happened to Detweiler in the quarry.

24 plus Groundhog Day was a great pitch for this. The guy-behind-the-guy was stolen right out the 24 playbook. They did it well. Now if they could just avoid 24's mistake (IMO) of having ten successive guys-behind-the-guys, this will be a good show. I hope ABC realizes they have an obligation to finish this off. Serial shows need to be concluded.

I don't get the part about "his sister's involvement". I thought the shooter at the ATM and the girl in the car at the quarry were both "Isabella", the girl who was supposedly killed in 1991. Where did you see Hopper's sister involved?

Too bad the show is getting pulled after the end of the month.

I'm pretty sure that was his sister (Jennifer I believe the name is.)

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Well didn't Hopper just talk to her sister and she said she was heading home.

Also, they were ambiguous about saying "they got the girl". So that, along with the mother's statements, I took it as she was actually still alive, (like they faked her death for some reason and that reason is what all the mystery is about). And that she was the one who kep shooting Chad and she was the girl the bad guys got. Also, while Jennifer is somewhat light-skinned for a black, to me, the girl at the ATM and in the car seemed even lighter skinned and seemed more latino. I will have to rewatch and see if I can tell what Jennifer is wearing when she talks to Hopper, and what the girl in the car is wearing.

This reminds me of the first several episodes of 24 Season 2, with all the blond girls and having a hard time realizing just who was who.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

I'm pretty sure the girl that kept shooting Chad and the girl at the quarry were Hopper's sister. I'll rewatch to confirm, but that was the way I saw it.

Well she's not going to say she's going to shoot a policeman.

Yeah, but on the night where he talked to his sister, Chad didn't get shot; Hopper sent Andrea to keep an eye on him.

I'm pretty sure it was the sister because of the clothes actually, the brownish jacket was what she was wearing in the "previously on" section, I believe.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

OK, I just watched those scenes again. His sister during the cell phone call and the girl in the limo at the end do look quite a bit alike, my mistake.

But also, the girl who shoots Chad does, to me, look a bit different and with a lighter complexion. Unless that is just the way they lit the scene by the ATM.

Too confusing, hopefully we'll find out more next week. I guess the red herring is Mrs. Contreras saying/acting like Isabella is alive. Is she just doing a Mrs. Finkle, or has her daughter really been there?

She wouldn't say that she tried to either.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Well, at least the rest of it will be shown online. Hopefully this will have a better conclusion than Vanished did when it was put online.

What I don't get though is why they force you to wait a week for each episode when they're just broadcast online, it'd be much more convenient to watch a few episodes at once.

That is annoying.

Is it just me or it it impossible to watch TV shows online? For one thing, it isn't comfortable to sit in front of the TV screen to watch anything longer than YouTube shorts. And then, it always seems to break up in the middle of watching.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

What a crock! The previews said it would still be on next Wed.
F*** ABC!!!

you're not the only one..i want to watch it on my HDTV and 5.1 system in HD.....not a little 3" x 5" window with glitches.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

At least NBC, KIDNAPPED, I can watch Full Screen and not too many glitches.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Wow...

The first casualty I am actually sorry to see go.

I really liked this show -- very clever. And Taye Tiggs was great in the lead role.

My wife and I just watched the two most recent eps on TiVo....

Oh well...

Vanished's "conclusion" was quite pitiful. No real conclusion, they just stopped after 13 episodes. DayBreak at least was always planned for 13 episodes, so we'll at least be able to get some satisfaction if the player allows us to see it reasonably well.

If you guys see where Daybreak goes, somebody feel free to come back and let us know. Not everyone can get the streaming.

ABC does have the latest 4 episodes online at the moment, so I presume they'll continue to do that while they add the new episodes.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

So I looked at the ABC lineup for tonight and those *@*!**@ did take DAYBREAK off the lineup.

Also, I do not see the next episode up on the ABC website yet either.

Anyone have any info on the next episode, when it will show, on air or online?

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

yeah, I still don't see the newest episode online yet.

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

At the beginning of its former time slot last Wednesday, it said something to the effect of "Watch for new episodes of Daybreak exclusively on abc.com".

Re: Day Break - ongoing thread (merged)

Can't say I'm surprised either the show was cancelled. I gave the show 2 episodes and that was more than enough for me. It just didn't work, characters were not interesting and the cheese factor was way too much for my taste.

If shows like Boomtown confused people by telling certain aspects from various characters perspective, then I never thought anything like this show would make it. For those few that liked it, maybe you will get some episodes, but most likely it will feel like John Doe without closure.
