Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I stumbled onto IFL completely by accident last night, I think in a PiP window while watching "24". Fighting seems similar, which was a plus. I don't know about the level of talent, etc. yet. But what I do like is it's on free TV. I could see myself watching and getting to know IFL - commercials and all. We'll see how it holds up once I really watch an episode.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

There were a couple of guys I saw last night that were real talented Bart Palaszewski and Chris Horodecki.

In other news, UFC 70 'Nations Collide' on SpikeTV

I made mention of this in a post on my blog, but now I have Confirmation that Forrest Griffin is indeed out of his UFC 70 bout against Lyoto Machida.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Rampage Vs. Liddell looks to be a done deal for UFC 71 on 5/26.

Tito Ortiz Vs. Rashad Evans and Anderson Silva vs. Nathan Marquardt are also scheduled for UFC 72, July 7.

Oh, and UFC is close to finalizing the purchase of Pride FC.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Indeed good news Casey. But I thought Rampage wanted another "warm up" fight before taking on Chuck. Doesn't sound like he's going to have enough time to do that.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Is anybody else having a difficult time getting excited for UFC 69 (Shootout)? I just can't seem to bring myself to order this live. The only fight I'm interested in seeing is the Diego/Koscheck fight.

I've been spoiled by Pride 33.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I love GSP so it is not as hard for me, but I know what you mean. Pride 33 nearly caused me not to order UFC 68 but thank God that I did. Now having said that there is no Couture moment on this show.

I'm actually more excited for Fight Night Live on 4/5 and the start of Ultimate Fighter 5 later that night. I'm also more excited for UFC 70 on 4/21.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I am disappointed that this man has been pulled from his fight on 4/5 against Kurt Pellegrino because I had so man jokes I wanted to make about him in my roundtable predictions piece but alas it will just have to wait.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I'm not familiar with the Pride talent but the "champion vs. champion" potential matches sound very, very interesting.

I'm not saying that I'd pick this outcome if the fight were held today, but if Chuck Liddell fought Mauricio "Shogun" Rua I'd give Rua a strong chance of winning, stronger than I'd give Quinton Jackson next month.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

UFC 69 was a great show, with a horrible fight an awesome fight at 155 and one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
GSP was defeated in 3:25 by Matt Serra. Going in to the fight GSP was -950 and Serra was +425

Now, I wait for Pride 34 'Kamikaze' which I will be covering live at 3:00 AM ET. Yes, I'm going Ironman with UFC coverage, Pride coverage, I plan to tape a podcast later today and all that while coming down with a tuch of the flu.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Pride 34 'Kamikaze' report watch me say "fuck" a lot during the first desasterous 30 minutes of this show. Worst way to open a PPV ever!

Hopefully, on U.S. replays that will be edited off.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I didn't get to catch either live event. Great follow ups as usual Casey. Thanks for all the work.
