Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I'll bet that this News just thrills everyone fighting at 185 LBs in the UFC.

And of course by thrill, I mean horrifies.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

A reminder for those with showtime. Tonight is the Elite Xtreme Combat debut headlined by Frank Shamrock Vs. Renzo Gracie in a middleweight contest.

The preliminary bouts will be streamed live on www.elitexc.com

The main card also features a name familiar to UFC fans as David "The Crow" Loiseau takes on Joey Villasenor in another 185 LB bout.

The main show features something you won't see in UFC any time soon as in a woman's bout Julie Kedzie Vs. Gina Carano.

And if that's not enough...Charles Krazy Horse Benit is on the card and he's most definitely entertaining...if you track down his bio page on Elitexc.com you'll know what I mean.

Can't believe I haven't posted since before EXC. That show was pretty great. Track down a tape of at least Gina Carano Vs. Julie Kedzie and the Krazy Horse promo.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I watched one of the best, if not the best ever MMA show on Saturday Night. If you didn't see Pride 33, then drop the cash on the replay. If you have to pick between a replay of Pride 33 and next weekend's UFC 68, go with Pride 33 because that UFC show will not even be anywhere near as good as the show that took place on Saturday.

It was a night of upsets and Nick Diaz Vs. Takanori Gomi is your leader in the clubhouse for fight of the year.

It was a tremendous night of action and you're not going to get a better value for your dollar anywhere, 9 fights none of them were bad.

If you've never ordered a Pride show before (this was my first PPV order, though I had seen fights from pride before) this is the show to get to introduce you. The show was so good, I now have less interest in seeing UFC 68 next weekend because it can't possibly compare.

Special note, the female ring announcer for Pride is so awesomely fantastic.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

What's Nick Diaz doing over there? I didn't even know he left the UFC. What happened? He couldn't take the loss to Diego Sanchez?

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Mikah, I hope you do enjoy the show, and when your done, please post thoughts.

Andres, Diaz actually fought in UFC for nearly a year after losing to Sanchez. His contract ran up and it was not renewed.

Oh, and FYI since the Pride show was in Las Vegas it had the exact same rules as the UFC.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Any speculation why Diaz's contract was not renewed? The guy is a solid worker IMO.

Ironically enough, it was likely because his past few UFC fights hadn't been entertaining enough. Same reason Loiseau was let go.

Now he's in the fight of the year and my God what a great show that ended up being.

Replays people, I watched most of the show again Sunday afternoon, and it was still so awesome. If you think I'm over hyping this in any way, just head over to Wrestling Observer and scan the feedback.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!

They were not kidding about this fight card. 2 hours into it and there have been some cracy knockouts. Next fight is Diaz, who I recognize from UFC and this is supposed to be the fight of the night. I've never watched Pride before, but I may have to start..

Another satisfied customer.

As I said the other day, I ended up watching this one by myself so I had nobody to split the cost with so all of the $40 is coming from my own pocket...and it was so fricken worth it.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I'm so glad I ordered this and recorded it. What an amazing night of fights. The Diaz/Gomi fight reminded of the Griffin/Bonnar fight a few years ago. Just an all out brawl. I highly recommend any UFC fans to check out this replay. Totally worth the $40 I paid for it.

Thanks to Casey for the heads up on this ticket!!

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Craig, you are welcome. When I saw that show, I knew it would be almost criminal for me not to recommend it to you guys.

Fallout from Pride 33 'The Second Coming' Fighter Earnings and Medical Suspensions
That contains spoilers if you still don't know the results of this show because you are considering a replay, and if you are considering a replay, just stop considering and start buying.

It should come as no surprise to Craig or anyone else who has seen the show which fighter's medical suspension is the longest.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I went to watch the recording of the fights and found that my dvr did not record it. Crap!!

Update: I contacted Directv about it not being recorded and they have credited my account for the amount. Now I'm thinking it was so good that I will purchase it again and hopefully save it this time.

UFCPreview Podcast!

As part of my eventual website launch there will be lots of podcasts, and here is the first of those. Art Shimko who has his own blog here joins Myself and one of my site contributors for a rather different look at tomorrow night's card.

If you're in to podcasts, give it a listen.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Good read on your blog Casey. Tonights card should be pretty good but I agree in that in will in no way compare to Pride 33.

I saw the weigh-in last night on Spike and Franklin looks ripped. Should be some pretty good fights.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

I didn't think the caliber of fights was as high as for the Pride show the week before, but the UFC show had the better story.

I recommend seeing them both.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

Just finished watching watching the last fight of Pride 33 (Wanderlei Silva vs. Dan Henderson). Great fights, indeed. I just find it harder to watch PRIDE because of the production values. The different languages slows things down. I don't enjoy the announcers as much. And somebody needs to invest in some better microphones and cameras. Or something. Anyway, good card.

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

What a good PPV that was (UFC 68). Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin looked real good. Chris Leiter put up a hell of a fight.

But the man of the night...Randy Couture. Unbelievable! I was speechless after that fight.

"Not bad for an old man".

Re: UFC Ongoing Thread

In something that will be considered good news for our cable and satellite bills, UFC 70 scheduled to take place on April 211 in Manchester England will probably air for free in the U.S. on SpikeTV.

UFC 70 'Nations Collide' is set to feature the following matchups:
*Mirko Cro Cop Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
*Michael Bisping Vs. Elvis Sinosic
*Andrei Arlovski Vs. Fabricio Werdum
*Forrest Griffin Vs. Ryoto Machida

rumored rest of card
