You mean the S6 DVDs? It'll probably be released on December 4. And I'd guess that S7 will probably start airing on January 13, 2008.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

It's total guess work based on when Fox released the S3 to S5 DVDs and when S4 to S6 started airing. For the last three years, the DVDs came out in the first week of December and the show started on a Sunday in the middle of January.

I always thought they skipped the silent clock for Tony because of two things- they used it for Edgar in the episode right before Tony died and the music really swells into the 'clock sound' at the end of the episode as opposed to the score just getting cut off by silence.
(1) I loved Edgar, was sad that he died, but giving Edgar a silent clock and not Tony? Bad decision.
(2) Maybe - but it's not like they couldn't have had the scoring changed to accommodate a silent clock.

I acknowledge that the producers did probably intend that he was dead. But the way they executed this, without a silent clock, and just leaving the body never to be seen or referenced ever again, does leave room for him to survive - remember, this is the guy that was shot in the neck and was running around 4 hours later. So if they want to bring him back, great. He deserved a better death than being overshadowed by Edgar.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

Ugh, as if last season wasn't tough enough to get through now they've announced that Janeane Garofalo will be part of the cast for season 7. I have never liked her in anything and honestly can't see how she will add anything to the show. Hell, I didn't know she was even in show business anymore.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

I just checked out the IMDB and Janeane Garafalo has been doing lots of work lately and it's more dramatic roles (like The West Wing). I did like her on Seinfeld and her cameo on The Sopranos back in the second season was funny. The only dramatic work I've seen of hers was a small role in Copland and she was pretty good. Either way, I'd bet that she's only going to be in about four to six episodes.

I was wondering what the hell they were thinking when Mary Lynn Rajskub (who I only knew from comedies) came on the show in S3 and that worked out so hopefully Garofalo can pull off a dramatic role.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

Geez what has Poor Janine Garofolo Done to earn such Hatred? Can't be anything she's done onscreen, and Her Off Screen Leanings should have little bearing to the work she's done as an actress.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

Couldn't tell you (although, admittedly, I'm still trying to figure out when all of America apparently turned on Rosie O'Donnell).

She's a pretty good actress, and despite being mostly known for comedy, she can probably do more.

I've got no problem with Janeane Garafalo or her (or any actor's) politics. My only 'fear' is having a comedic actress in a drama but, as has been pointed out, she's been doing dramatic work for years now. Plus, I can't imagine that the producers and casting director are stunt casting Janeane Garafalo to get ratings so if they're good with her, I think it's safe to assume that they feel she's the right person for the part so I'll hope for the best.

EDIT: One thing that I forgot earlier that I thought she was great on was The Larry Sanders Show but everything was great about that show.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

I liked Janeane Garafalo's work in Ratatouille, so she seems alright. She's been out of the spotlight long enough that I think it may not be distracting.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

My initial reaction to JG's casting was "ugh". It has nothing to do with her politics. She just strikes me as someone who shows up, reads her lines, and leaves, not caring much about what the show or character requires. To me, she always plays JG. I don't consider her a very good actress. We can say this isn't stunt casting, but I happen to believe you can walk into almost any broadway show and find at least one actress that'd play her role better. I doubt she was the best available, and certainly not the cheapest. So yeah, I do think it was a bit of casting a name. That said, her simple presence will not prevent me from enjoying the show or seeing her performance for what it is at the time it happens (as opposed to my expectations).

Uh, we don't know what her role is. For all we know, the writers may have come up with a smart, sarcastic, but oddly likable woman, maybe even with her in mind.

Which is why I said despite my initial misgivings, I'll just wait and see how it plays out. But hey, if me expressing my initial misgivings while labeling them as such bothers ya, sorry.

I'm with you, man. Of all the people they could cast for 24 she's definitely not one I would've chosen, but I'm still going to watch the show and enjoy it regardless.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

According to AICN, Rhys Coiro (who plays maniac director Billy Walsh on Entourage) is playing a character on a few episodes of 24 next season.

Re: 24: Season Six thread

Hmmmm, Walsh is moving over to "24". Personally, I don't mind him in Entourage nearly as much as some people do and he will probably be a good addition to the cast. The show needs a smart-ass, dickhead type of guy to butt heads with Jack(assuming that's the type of role he'll be playing).

If Fox is already ruining something like that in a press release four months before the episodes start to run, I wish good luck to anyone who wants to be surprised when the episode actually airs because it'll be in every commercial that they run.

EDIT: By the way, that's f-in' awesome news.

I like Tony as much as the next guy, but that's weak. Maybe Jack's wife can make a comeback too. And how about Edgar.

Scott, I'd agree with you if Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
it was anyone but Tony. I'm sure they'll give some (ridiculous) reason how Tony survived and why his survival was kept secret. He was 'only' poisoned as opposed to being shot or being exposed to nerve gas so I guess saving him on the way to the hospital isn't as crazy as surviving those things.

Responding to Travis Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
That is certainly the explanation I would expect them to use, since that is the argument I have been putting forward for them being able to bring him back, ever since they failed to give him the silent clock.
