Re: 'World Trade Center' DVD information

Thanks for posting.

So sick of these multiple DVD editions. The days of 2 disc editions ONLY appear to be over. Now lately there has to be a extra price to pay.

Re: 'World Trade Center' DVD information

I read an interview with Nick Cage circa WTC's release where he said that a couple months before the release of the film, Stone showed what Cage assumed was the final cut to cast and crew. Then, Cage attended the premiere and was shocked to see a film that was completely recut and tonally was quite different. Cage suggested that he prefered the earlier cut, which as I recall he described as being more "haunted" than the final cut. Given Stone's penchant for releasing "Director's Cuts" combined with Cage's comments, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a WORLD TRADE CENTER Director's Cut before too long.

I think all of those scenes will be contained on the 'Deleted Scenes' portion
of the extra features. Stone only shot just over 300,000 feet of film on this
one versus 1.25 million on 'Alexander.' I doubt a 'Director's Cut' is possible
with this title, but that's up to Paramount.

Re: 'World Trade Center' DVD information

It's Oliver Stone so I just assume another cut is coming. And since it's Oliver Stone, I don't really mind.

Why wouldn't a director's cut be possible when Nick Cage has already said that he saw an earlier edit that was a completely different film?

BTW, 300,000 feet of footage is a LOT- over 58 hours of raw footage. Is it as much as ALEXANDER? No, but it's still a heck of a lot of material.

I'm sure a 'Director's Cut' is possible, but Stone has made no mention of
one and has been quoted as saying the theaterical cut of 'WTC' was the
FINAL cut. I just don't see it happening, UNLESS Paramount pulls a Sony
and rereleases a DVD with the deleted scenes put back in later on down the
like i.e. Black Hawk Down, The Patriot. I don't see Stone doing another
version of this film.

You don't see the same Oliver Stone who already did a "Director's Cut" of ALEXANDER and yet is working on a 3rd version of that film doing a possible "Director's Cut" os WORLD TRADE CENTER?

And besides, the point in your post that I was responding to was your assertion that since Stone shot 300,000 feet of footage compared to ALEXANDER's 1.5 million, that you "doubted" a Director's Cut was possible. Exactly how do you surmise that 58 hours worth of raw footage on WORLD TRADE CENTER excludes the possibility of putting together a new cut of the film, especially when Mr. Cage saw an earlier edit that he has publically said he thought was the final version and was an entirely different film tonally?

I didn't read the Cage interview, but did see Cage on Charlie Rose where he
only talked about one scene that Stone cut from the theatrical version.
Stone himself in reference to a question about deleted scenes or a director's
cut, said he shot very little on the film and what you see (in the theatrical
cut) IS HIS VERSION OF THE FILM. End of story. Like I said, if Paramount
releases another version later on down the line, it won't be a Stone re-edit,
but simply a Sony-like hack job of putting the deleted scene(s) back in.
'Alexander' was a HUGE project, the biggest of Stone's career past, present
or future, and opens itself up to multiple re-edits more than 'WTC' does. 58
hours is a heck of a lot of footage, but nothing compared to what 1.25
million equals.

Re: 'World Trade Center' DVD information

Didn't see this at the theater, and didn't really feel compelled to, due to subject matter, but as a Cage and Stone fan will pick up the DVD. If anything, the extras will be interesting.
