Re: The Office: Season 3

This is the one season premiere I am REALLY looking forward to(aside from 24 and The Shield which won't be back 'til January). Carell showed a clip on Leno last night that was absolutely hillarious.

Re: The Office: Season 3

I barely let out a chuckle during "My Name is Earl" but I've been LOL all through this episode of the Office. It's good to have this show back.

Michael's mangling of "Queer as F**K" Bwah-hahahaha!

Re: The Office: Season 3

OMG, I was laughing so hard at the most uncomfortable man-on-man kiss on TV ever, that I was coughing from laughing (it didn't help that I was eating crackers during that scene).

Re: The Office: Season 3

Great episode.

I think it was handled perfectly.

Re: The Office: Season 3

Jim needs to get his ass back to Scranton, NOW. You could tell he just isn't liking his new job, even though everyone seems a little saner and it probably isn't just Pam he's missing.

Re: The Office: Season 3

The fake crying by Dwight at the beginning had me rolling.

Re: The Office: Season 3

So now we have two offices? Im not sure if I like that...

But a brilliant episode. I was rolling the entire time.

Re: The Office: Season 3

Briilliantly funny. I watched it with my wife and my friend we were all short of breath throughout the episode. Lots of rewinding.

"I watch The L Word" -- I'm sure for the diversity The "Queer as ****" line had me gasping.

"I think Angela is gay. Could Oscar and Angela be having a gay affair?"

Also, Dwight's slow smile after Michael mentions imagining Angela and another woman.

And finally, Rashida Jones' imitation of Jim smiling to the camera. My wife had fits.

And yet, there are probably at least 20 other hilarious moments. We'll be watching again soon.

Re: The Office: Season 3

Kevin is Hilarious!!! Had me rolling the entire episode.

And the last little clip, when Jim sends Dwight the Gaydar. *beeeep* "Oh no..."

Re: The Office: Season 3

Good one tonight...kind of a shame with the Jim and Pam thing but Michael outing Oscar was great.

"No, you don't understand. Oscar is sexually attracted to other men."
"Oh come on, now you're going too far."

Oh man... great way to start the Third Season.

I think Crede may be slowly becoming my favorite character. After the whole "I love to steal things" bit in the season finale to his bit about how "a guy may have slipped in there... I don't know"...

I can't decide who has the best "hit and run" jokes like that... Crede, Kevin or Stanley.

Re: The Office: Season 3

Too uncomfortable for me. Not the subject matter of last nights episiode, just the show in general.

The boss isn't funny to me. He is just too "way over the top" stupid for me to like this show as much as others.

It does has its really funny moments but Michael is just too stupid to be likable. The other characters are much better. They are the only reason I watch.

Re: The Office: Season 3

Michael sort of reminds me of my own boss, just not to that extreme. I don't think he would ever do anything like Michael did with the whole Oscar coming out situation.

I loved the Gaydar. I love that Jim is still harrasing Dwight and also the frat boy version of Dwight.

I wonder when Jim will get back to Scranton. Seeing Roy say he had to win Pam back was interesting, seeing as he took her for granted so often. I don't think she likes being single.

Well, to play devil's advocate, Micheal isn't supposed to be likeable. He's a parody or over-bearing, clueless bosses who are the personification of the Peter Principle.

One thing that I DO like is that every once in a while, they actually do show Michael do something "good" that shows you some plausable reason of why he became the boss. The one that leaps to mind is when he made the big sale, turning the potential customer around when Jan was failing miserably with him, at the "Chili's" meeting last season.

Re: The Office: Season 3

I love how Oscar got a paid vacation from Jan after Michael outed him.

Re: The Office: Season 3

Michael's ignorance and insensitivity are what turn off my friends to this show, and it is probably the one aspect of the show requiring a major "suspension of disbelief". The US version of the Office in particular often crosses the line into fantasy with some of its _extremely_ broad characterizations. It's the "American" stamp on the whole concept. (David Brent is hilarious but more subtle)

If you watch enough and get to know the characters, everything the characters do are consistent with their motivations - Michael's ridiculous statements and actions always are rooted in his need to be loved. (the "kiss" happened after Oscar accused him of being ignorant in front of his staff, for example)... say what you will, but if you pay attention you'll see his antics are never played _only_ for shock.

I liked the contrast of the "professional" (boring) office. ("Big Tuna!") ... especially the co-worker's reaction to the jello (a nice reference to both "Office" pilots). But does Jim know Pam dumped Roy? If so, what's holding him back? Questions for another week, I guess...

I hope they keep this up. This is my one of my favorite television shows.

You left out being accused of being "small", which mortified Michael, and the looks on Phyllis and Pam's faces as they looked "there" were hilarious, but painful at the same time for Michael, who finally got what Oscar was feeling in terms of mortification/shame of being outed.

Re: The Office: Season 3

I thought it was a fantastic episode and a great way to start the season. I loved how both Jim and Pam reflexively looked for each other when something funny happened at their offices. (Ryan will never be the friend to Pam that Jim was).

Re: The Office: Season 3

I loved the idea of a "second" office. It's like twice the fun, with a whole new set of wacky characters. I don't think it will last however, because we all know Jim's got to move back. I'm sure the writers already have a great plan on how to bring him back to Scranton and it's going to be one heck of an episode I'm sure.

About Michael being a jerk... I remember in the beginning of Season 1 he was more of a likeable dufus. You kind of liked the guy and sometimes felt sorry for him, because it was clear that he meant well. Then in Season 2 they took him over the top into "crude" territory requiring some suspension of disbelief. Now it's like "okay, nobody is that stupid". I sort of lost interest in the show during S2 because of that.
I only returned to watching it when the Pam-Jim stuff started to heat up (probably the best on-screen chemistry I've ever seen).

One of the greatest scenes ever, last night ... I shot soda through my nose when they showed the mugshot of Roy as he was explaining his arrest.

Although as JP mentioned, the line "a guy might have slipped in there...I don't know" might be the best line ever.
