Monolith Monsters

With the DVD release of this title....i would like to know...how did they make the "monsters"? They look kind of neat, bubbling, growing, and then topling over. But HOW was it actually done? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think it was done with a combination of sea monkeys, baking soda and vinegar.
