This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Attempting to use this forum is locking up my browser, Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7. It works with MS Internet Explorer 6.0, but I prefer not to use it because of its vulnerability to hackers. This problem only occurred recently, and I have not installed any Firefox updates. Are web changes tested against Firefox 1.5.0.7?

Thanks,
Pete

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Don't be too hasty. Other members seem to be using FireFox with little or no problem, so it may be your system.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

I was having the same problem until this morning (9/19). Now it seems to be working fine.
My original post about the problem is here: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...d.php?t=242173

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

I also had the same problem last night where through Firefox
the forum was only loading 1/4 of the way.

Seems to be working fine now.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

I am using Firefox 1.5.0.7 and I haven't had a problem with lockups at all and the video that is on the front page doesn't autoplay though I might have stopped that manually via Adblock. I think the first time I went to the HTF homepage it did start to autoplay but I killed that pronto!

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Also using Firefox 1.5.0.7. Locked up accessing HTF forums last night. Was OK this morning, but it's locking up again now. I'm typing this from IE.

Firefox pushed a security update a couple of days ago - something about that must not agree with HTF.

I'm using 1.5.0.7 and haven't had ANY problems. And, I've been around the forum a lot the past few days.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

I use and test the forum with IE, Firefox 1.5.0.7 and 2.0 Beta 2, Opera 9.0.1 and Netscape 8.1 and I haven't had it lock up on me yet. I am not sure what is going on.

Seemed to start around the same time that the auto play of the CEDIA video was turned off. Operative word beeing seemed ...

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Still crashes Mozilla for me too. The main forum page loads fine - that's where my bookmark points to. Then it hangs when I click a subforum.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Same problem here, firefox (same ver.) stops responding when I click a subforum. Works fine in IE.. wtf?

Same here. Kinda sucks now, locks up on sub-forums. My problems started with the Firefox Update.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Me too! After Firefox upgraded itself to 1.5.0.7 I hang when trying to access a messge board. The 'forumdisplay' page loads fine.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Locks up for me as well with Firefox 1.5.0.7. I use this version of Firefox on my desktop and my laptop, locks up regularly on both.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Well, just as a point of information, I too have Firefox 1.5.0.7, but the forum is not locking up for me.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Locked up for me too yesterday using Firefox 1.5.0.6 and 1.5.0.7 on Windows XP. It wouldn't lock up at the main page, it would lock up when I tried to get from the 2nd page (forum listings) to an actual subforum. I'd get the "not responding" line in the title bar.

However now I'm on my Mac using Firefox 2 Beta 2 and all is well.

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

I am using Firefox 1.5.0.7 with no issues.....

.....but that doesn't mean I don't care about the problems
the rest of you are having.

Listen, my partner had a death in the family this past week.
He will be back on Monday or Tuesday. At that time we can
see what can be done to clear up the problems you guys are
having with Firefox, including if need be, removing the video.

From experience, Firefox is a horrible browser when it comes
to this software. It's my favorite browser, but it absolutely
causes problems for members using this forum. We can't even
get it to cooperate and properly display some of the banners
we are using.

Hang in there for another day or two and I'm certain the problem
will be fixed. Thanks for your patience!

Re: This forum locks up Mozilla Firefox

Ron and Parker,

No worries at all. In fact, even with Firefox/WinXP the forum isn't unusable. Since I do believe it's that video that is freezing things, what members can do is go to the landing page and click on one of the most recent topics to be taken to that thread, and then use the drop-down menu to go to the desired forum. This totally bypasses the 2nd page w/ the video and when I was on my PC I could use the forum without locking up.

Really odd though that Firefox on my Mac doesn't have the same problem . Since I use my Mac more than my PC, this is a minor inconvenience for me. Wishing the best to Parker and his family in their time of loss. This forum can wait, he needs to be with his family and loved ones right now.
