Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

This is essentially the same coupon as the earlier one that expired 9/4. It exisits on a different site (visitborders.com) and the expiration date has been bumped up for two days now. So it could go beyond 9/8 - who knows. The link:

http://www.visitborders.com

FYI - there is/was an ongoing debate over at dvdtalk about the validity of this coupon but it has since been confirmed that its legit.

The link, for me, produces nothing but a blank page.

Works for me. As of this morning the date has been extended to September 13. The coupon says 30% off with a purchase of $10 or more.

The wording gives the impression that the coupon is to be used in conjunction with signing up for their Border's Rewards Program...but that is certainly not made clear.

Hmmm. Still works for me.

Maybe if you copy & paste the link into a new browser window?

I got a blank page when I went there. I reloaded the page & the coupon appeared.

the coupon is flash, and is normally blocked by an adblocker.

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

I used this yesterday at my local Borders to great effect. I got a copy of Double Indemnity...which I have NOT been able to find anywhere else.

While it was marked down to $22.99, the regular price was $26.99. 30% off 26.99 is $8.10...bringing the price down to $18.89. Not a terrific deal...but a deal, never-the-less, on a title I was having a hard time finding.

Even DeepDiscountDVD.com has Double Indemnity listed for $19.85...so I'm happy.

Bottom line--the coupon works.

Now good through 9-29-2006.

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

My wife and I used a bunch of these today--IN CONJUNCTION WITH our personal shopping day (we are using the same Rewards card). Terrific savings on books and DVDs. We used them at different Borders stores in our area.

As noted in another thread...the Rewards Personal Shopping Days can be used in conj8unction with ANY other savings at Borders. Very nice!

DVD-related: I purchased the Hitchcock/Fonda film "The Wrong Man". At a regular price of $14.99 minus 30% = $10.49 minus the 10% = $9.44 final price.

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

Just wondering...it says "one coupon per customer per valid period".

How do they know if you've already used it? Anyone had any luck using it more than once?

Yup.

Actually, my wife and I usually check out at the same time...separately...each using a coupon...AND the same Rewards card (they give you more than one when you sign up). Never a problem. We've done it a few times.

We have also used this same coupon on at least three different occasions.

Just like Mike, I've used them twice in the same day and others I've used one a day on every day that the coupon is valid so they ain't keeping track.

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

Thanks guys. Have you been also using your Borders rewards card, or the same credit card, with each purchase? Because by default I usually scan my rewards card and use the same credit card. Maybe if I'm ultra paranoid I won't scan my rewards card and use my debit card instead, unless you guys have gotten away with it

I love how the "expiration" date on this one keeps getting pushed a little more every couple of days.

Oh well, it got me "To Kill a Mockingbird" for $20 out the door.

Carlo: You really ARE paranoid, aren't you?!?! What's the worst thing that can happen, the Border's Reward police come to the register and test your midichlorian levels?

I use the same Rewards Card (for the discount) and MC Debit card (to pay) everytime...as does my wife. And like I reported earlier...often we are at side-by-side registers checking out when we do this. No worries, mate!

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

If they did test, mine would be off the charts.

"Even higher than Master Yoda's!"

Then they'd proceed to turn the contents of the entire store over to me.

Now good through 10-10-06.

I need to print some of these up for myself and thought I'd bring it back up to the top.

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

How anticlimactic. So I print out a couple of coupons, ready to give Borders my cash, but it turns out that 99% of the "non-sale" stuff (which is what the coupon is good for) is still not competitive with other retailers even after the 30% discount!

I did buy one thing: Seven Samurai. That came out to roughly $35. Yes I could have bought it from DVD Planet for a couple of bucks less, but shipping would have washed that out, and I got instant gratification this way.

Yeah...you really have to be selective since this coupon is clearly for regular price only.

HOWEVER...here's a different coupon...which you might find works more to your advantage. Nowhere does it say it cannot be used with the sale price...which makes sense since it is not a "one item" coupon. It even makes the point that it CAN be used with a personally shopping day discount (although, I believe, all coupons can).

This is $10 off a purchase of $35 or more @ Borders.

Not sure if this date will also keep getting extended. This might be it. Expiration is 10-18-2006.

Carlo: I wonder if you might have done better on Seven Samurai with this coupon?

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

i used that today.

12.99 calender minus 25% with coupon ...= 9.74 (teachers discount)
14.99 high anxiety ---- 20% with coupon =11.99 (not sure)
29.99 brazil new edition sale price ..........=22.99

09.74
11.99
22.99
44.72

minus the 10 off 35

total

34.72

so i was able to get the teachers discount and another 20% that i dont know what that was.

may have been connected to the teacher thing dvds may only be 20%

we didnt ask for the teacher %
after she scanned the 10 off she asked if we were teachers, wife is, so she scanned another thing for the additional % off.

i think it works out to about 33% off after all the discounts

Re: Borders 30% off 1 item through 9/8...and beyond?

So, Tony....the Brazil was $29.99...and the sale price was $22.99? And you got no percentage off for the Brazil DVD?

This was the one-disc? I think my Borders had it for $19.99...but that was the week it was released. They might have raised it since then.
